Newcastle vs Manchester United Predictions

Key Stats
– Everton have won against the Spurs only once in their last 20 Premier League games
– Seven of the last nine home wins for Everton in the Premier League that have ended with 1-0 result
– Tottenham are winless in their last five away fixtures, with four defeats in the process

Have Tottenham Already Written Off The Season?

After Antonio Conte’s explosive press conference in the aftermatch of the disappointing 3-3 draw against Southampton, many of us thought that would be the last time we would see him in charge of Tottenham. And it was correct, as after a few internal discussions, the club reached an agreement with the fiery Italian who left Tottenham, at least for the moment, on better terms compared with the last time he left London when he was managing Chelsea.

Team News & Form

The whole thing made it pretty clear that Levy didn’t have an immediate plan B, as Conte’s assistant manager, Cristian Stellini, has been promoted to acting head coach with Ryan Mason as his number two.

They will carry on until the end of the season, as this will give the management time to find an appropriate longer-term solution.

This is a fixture that Tottenham normally do well, as Everton have been able to win against the Spurs only once in their last 20 Premier League games. Spurs are also unbeaten in their last nine visits to Goodison Park, yet they have struggled to get wins here at times, as six of these matches have ended in draws. At Goodison Park they will find Sean Dyche, who, despite all the problems he found here, has managed to improve things since his arrival in late January.

In order to cause problems for the Spurs, Everton would have to do something they have struggled to do frequently this season and historically when facing the Spurs: score a goal.

In fact, Tottenham have been able to keep three clean sheets in the last three matches they faced the Toffees. Sean Dyche, on the other hand, has good memories of playing Tottenham because he beat them twice when he was Burnley’s manager. The last time, in February 2022, the score was 1-0.

It would be interesting to see if Tottenham are still realistically capable of fighting for a top-four place. The direction that came from the top would suggest otherwise, as it seems they have already written off this season and are working for the next one.

Haven’t replaced Antonio Conte immediately with a Tottenham permanent manager, despite there being several high-profile candidates available, is concerning also because Cristian Stellini clearly couldn’t give a direction to the team when Antonio Conte was out ill in recent weeks.

Everton vs Tottenham Betting Tips: Everton To Win & Under 2.5 Goals

With Everton traditionally struggling to score against Tottenham, the first thing on Sean Dyche’s mind would be to avoid conceding. The former Burnley man has focused heavily on the defensive aspect of the game since moving to Goodison Park, and it is not a coincidence that the Toffees have won three of their four Premier League home games under Dyche, all by a 1-0 scoreline.

With Spurs not being in particularly good spirits, this is likely to be a low-scoring affair in which the Under 2.5 goals looks particularly valuable as our main bet on a Monday night where you might need some good coffee to stay awake.

Arsenal, Leeds, and Brentford all failed to find answers against Everton’s defence, with seven of the last nine home wins for Everton in the Premier League ending in 1-0 results.

I expect Everton to narrowly prevail here. Not only are Tottenham in a bad mental state, but their away performances in recent times have been dreadful, as they are winless in their last five games, with four defeats in the process.

They have struggled when playing teams in the bottom part of the table, and in fact, they are winless against the bottom three sides this season.

As mentioned above, Dyche has done some good work since moving in at Goodison Park, but that is not enough as of yet. Everton are just above the drop zone for now, but there are rumours that their FFP breach might result in a point deduction this term, which would put them in a very dangerous situation.

A win in this clash would go a long way towards putting some cushion between them and the bottom three, and this is what they need as currently they are just a point clear of 18th place after Bournemout’s win at the weekend. Back them to win their fourth home game in their last five.

Everton vs Tottenham Value Bet: Demarai Grey to score anytime

Confidence Level

£10 returns £100

Betting on the goalscorer market when you think the game will have few goals is tricky, but it could also limit your betting options.

Everton, for example, will probably play in a 4-5-1 formation with Demarai Grey leading the attack and taking care of penalties. The former Leicester striker has scored so far four goals in 22 starts this season, which is hardly impressive.

The Toffees’ uninspiring and average season has probably hurt his performance, but under Sean Dyche, he has improved in recent games. Not only did he score against Forest a couple of games ago, but he was also able to create several goal opportunities, recording two shots on target against Brentford.

It is clear that the manager is trusting him to do well, and against a Spurs defence that has allowed five goals in the last three away games in all competition, back Grey to take advantage of the opportunity at an enhanced price with William Hill, which is available at the moment of writing at 7/2 (was 3/1).

Everton vs Tottenham Correct Score Prediction: Everton 1-0

Confidence Level

£10 return £100

Odds corrects at time of posting and subject to change

If Everton win, it is probably going to be 1-0. This is their preferred home result and does reflect the way they play under Sean Dyche. They work hard and have a solid foundation to keep opponents quiet, but can cause issues on the counter with the likes of Grey and Doucoure.

Given their opponent’s situation, I don’t see them changing their style, as they will frustrate them even more, waiting to hit them as soon as they make the first error. And, as we have seen, Tottenham’s defence is pretty leaky these days, so the Toffees are likely to find a goal to defend at some point to grab these vital three points.
