An Action-Packed Semi-final Awaits in the DFB-Pokal

Key Stats
– Stuttgart haven’t won the DFB-Pokal in over 25 years.
– Eintracht Frankfurt are pursuing their third German domestic cup final appearance in seven seasons.
– Both teams have proven goal-scoring ability, setting the stage for a goal-rich semi-final.

Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt will clash in a highly anticipated DFB-Pokal semi-final on Wednesday, with both teams keen to secure a place in the German domestic cup final. If Frankfurt succeeds, this will be their third final appearance in seven seasons, while for Stuttgart, this will be a golden opportunity to win the DFB-Pokal for the first time in more than 25 years. The stage is set for what should be a thrilling and goal-rich affair.

Stuttgart’s Battle for Relevance

Stuttgart haven’t been one of the protagonists of German football in recent years, as they have been constantly involved in the relegation battle to avoid dropping into the second tier. They are coming, however, in good spirit, as their 2-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach has probably marked a turning point for them as they moved out of the relegation zone.

Since the arrival of Sebastian Hoeness at the helm at the beginning of April, the team has been in fine form, collecting eight points from four Bundesliga matches and securing their place in Wednesday night’s DFB-Pokal semi-final. A win against Frankfurt will be an historical achievement for the club, as they will reach their first major final in a decade, probably marking the team’s resurgence in German football.

Frankfurt’s Quest for a Top-Half Finish

Frankfurt’s efforts have been split between the DFB-Pokal and their Bundesliga campaign this season. Thanks to a very good first half of the table, the Eagles are still sitting in ninth position in the table despite going through a recent nine-match winless streak.

Coach Oliver Glasner’s main objective now is to reach a top-half finish while bringing his second major trophy home. It will be interesting to see if they will be able to overturn their recent lack of form, and surely injury concerns are an additional challenge for them in this semi-final.

Both teams are playing with a rather attacking style, so goals are likely to be on the cards in a semi-final that is likely to be rather balanced. Stuttgart are in very good form at the moment, and with the enthusiasm of their achievement, they might pose problems to a Frankfurt side that has been struggling for form.

The Eagles, however, do have better qualities in their squad, so I do expect an action-packed encounter with multiple goals on display. Backing the Over 2.5 goals looks like the best bet here, which is available at the best price of 1/1 with BetVictor (was 19/20).

Stuttgart to edge it

If we factor in Stuttgart’s strong form under Hoeness and Frankfurt’s recent struggles, it makes sense to back the hosts to edge this semi-final in a match where both sides will score. Not only do Frankfurt not have momentum at the moment, but they also have several injuries to their key defenders, which will make it hard to keep the hosts at bay.

Make no mistake, the Eagles will put up a fight, but Stuttgart’s home advantage and motivation for a historical achievement should see them through to the final.
