After what has been the biggest upset in snooker history, the tour continues with the Players Championship. Our snooker betting experts have reviewed this tournament and provided their analysis and tips.
As we enter the Players Championship, we are all still shocked by witnessing Jordan Brown, the biggest-priced winner ever, landing the Welsh Open. He started as he number 81 and recorded the lower-ranked winner since Harold back in 1993.

With the Players Championship that is restricted to the top-16, we will not have such a big upset this week, yet it is probably savvy to look for value. Judd Trump is the defending champion, and it is not surprising that he is the favourite here. He can be forgiven for the loss last week and will want to bounce back here. Looking at the draw, he should meet Ronnie O’Sullivan in the semis and, based on the performance of last week, the latter looks the best betting option here.
Ronnie’s defeat in the final was a disappointment, but Jordan’s performance was so extraordinary that the former champion can be excused. In analysing his potentials for this week, we need to look at how well Ronnie has played in the previous round. He has won 22 out of 24 frames in five earlier matches and has produced a standard that we haven’t seen from him in the last six or seven years.
Judd will be keen to defeat him, but the reality is that if Ronnie will play in the same way, he is unbeatable. He will have a difficult start against Ding Junhui, but the latter was disappointing last week, and if we look at the head to head, it has been one-sided for O’Sullivan.
Surely the defeat against Jordan would have left Ronnie disappointed, but he has been very consistent lately and might well succeed this week if he can keep the same level, which we think he will as it has been a long time since he was in such form.
