Today’s horse racing tips: race predictions, best bets and preview for Monday at Windsor, Thirsk and Worcester

It’s been an exciting few days for followers of Herrin Kendrick’s horse racing selections, and he’s looking to continue his strong run of form with today’s tips. Today’s focus will be on the action at Windsor, Thirsk, Worcester, and Kempton for Monday, 16th September. Read on to discover his best picks for the day, including his ever-popular Nap of the Day.

Today’s Focus Races

Today’s racing features a number of intriguing contests, offering a blend of experienced runners and those looking to establish themselves. At Windsor, the 3:12 will see familiar faces, including The Whipmaster, looking to return to top form after some recent struggles, while at Thirsk, 4:20, Midnight’s Dream aims to improve on previous performances.

Over at Worcester, the 5:00 hurdles race features Planet Legend, who is keen to build on his latest strong effort, and at Kempton’s 4:55, Crocodile River is an interesting two-year-old with a promising pedigree. In each of these races, we’ll see a mix of seasoned competitors and newer horses, offering the ideal conditions for a day of intense racing action.

Nap of the Day

Our Nap of the Day comes in the 4:30 Worcester with State of Honor. This mare’s recent form suggests she’s peaking at the right time. She secured her first win in a Fontwell handicap and remarkably carries no penalty for that success. This is significant, as her form before that win hinted at serious promise – notably when she fell at the last fence while leading at Uttoxeter. That fall delayed her progression, but having now claimed a deserved victory, she’s in prime condition to kick on. Unpenalised and in top form, State of Honor stands out as the day’s best bet.

The Whipmaster had a dip in form after a strong finish in August last year, but he bounced back recently with a much-improved effort following wind surgery. At Lingfield last month, he finished a respectable third, only a length behind the winner, who subsequently won by nine and a half lengths. This improvement suggests The Whipmaster is regaining form. With three of his seven career wins occurring at Windsor, two of them over today’s distance, he’s racing off a mark 6lbs lower than when he last won here. Given his familiarity with the course and conditions, he should be a major contender today.

Planet Legend has faced a mix of highs and lows over the past year. As a juvenile hurdler, he secured two wins, but his form fell off before a break. That rest period seemed to do wonders, as he returned at Ludlow in April and came within a neck of victory. Since then, he faced tougher ground conditions but still managed a third-place finish, proving his resilience. Dropping back in class today and returning to firmer ground, he looks primed for success. His trainer, Richard Newland, knows how to get the best out of him, especially after a break, and this contest looks to be within his grasp.

Crocodile River, a two-year-old filly trained by Ed Dunlop, has shown steady progress and looks poised to break through. She’s a half-sister to several high-class winners, including the 98-rated Skukuza, and the recent addition of cheekpieces could help sharpen her focus. Last time out at Newbury, she showed improved form when stepping up to nursery company, and that performance suggests there’s more to come. If she continues her upward trajectory and benefits from the added headgear, Crocodile River should make her mark in today’s race.
