Main Bet: Richie Ramsay To Win

This week’s DP World Tour venue is the St. Francis Links on the Eastern Cape in South Africa, which will host the SDC Championship. This course was opened in 2007 and looks very nice, with elevated putting surfaces that do resemble Nicklaus courses.

The main pick for this week is Scotsman Richie Ramsay, who withdrew last week after the first round of the Kenya Open due to sickness. He has recovered now, and I have the feeling that he might do well here. He is a winner at Hillside and has also finished fifth in his only previous participation. Additionally, he also finished fourth and fifth at Murcar Links and second at Portstewart, in addition to very good placements at Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Castle Stuart, and The Renaissance Club. He also secured four top-20 finishes in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, so his skills should suit this course very well.

He has also been in very good form lately, as he finished in the top five at Valderrama, The Belfry, Crans, Hilversum, and Hong Kong. He likes playing in South Africa, where he won the SA Open at Pearl Valley in 2009 and also finished third at the Nedback Challenge as recently as last November. All in all, this looks like a great option for this week’s event at this price.
