Inisherin made light work of the Commonwealth Cup field over course and distance last year and returns to Ascot with another top-level prize in his sights. After a long break, he returned to action with a battling win in the Duke of York, seeing off Flora Of Bermuda in what was a strong field.

With Buick back in the saddle and drying ground to suit, this looks like the perfect set-up. A strongly run six furlongs will allow Inisherin to bide his time before delivering that trademark late thrust.

Treanmor (14:30) – Looks a cut above after dominating on debut. The Frankel colt should improve again with an extra furlong to work with in the Chesham.
Al Riffa (15:05) – Group 1 winner who shaped well on return in France. Lightly raced and could prove too classy if he’s come forward for that run.
Seagulls Eleven (16:20) – Now gelded and down in class. Group 1 experience gives him an edge over lesser-tried rivals in the Jersey Stakes.

Dakota Blue (17:35) – Travelled with menace last time and looks to be on the up. Could be one of the more dangerous outsiders in the Golden Gates.
