Main Bet: Eddie Pepperell
Our first pick is Eddie Pepperell of England, who has enjoyed in the past doing the West Course test. In 2013, when he was playing in his first tournament, he tied for sixth place, holding that spot after 36, 54, and 72 holes.
He finished T21st after being tied for seventh after 54 holes the following year, but he found his Wentworth form again with a tied sixth finish the following year. We only have traditional metrics to help us learn further about his game in that first outing, but he placed in the top 20 in each of the 3 long game categories, the top five in putting average, and first overall.
He was also first for Strokes Gained Approach two years ago. In the late summer, this component of his game was in excellent condition. In fact, in his last 5 starts, he has finished in the top 10 four times.
He was T11th in the Cazoo Classic at Hillside, a second in the Hero Open at Fairmont St. Andrews, a T20th in the Cazoo Open at Celtic Manor, a tied eight in the Czech Masters at Albatross, and a T18th last week in the Made in Himmerland. So he has delivered some outstanding performances recently.
When questioned about his success following his debut, he thanked his friends and family who came from Oxfordshire to cheer him on and said that they had inspired him to play his best golf. He also added: “I don’t really know why, but I simply enjoy the golf course. There are some pretty difficult tee shots there, but I consider them and play to my perceived advantages. “

Each Way Bet: Aaron Rai
Another Englishman, Aaron Rai, is the second pick; he was one of my choices from the previous year. He placed T14th that week, but I thought I had seen enough to convince me to keep him this time.
He finished T26th in 2019, rating top 10 for SG Off the Tee and top 20 for SG Approach in both instances. He was T14th the previous year and T26th this year. He’s focused on the PGA Tour for the past 12 months, but I appreciate that he’s got a good chunk of time off after putting in a lot of effort. I also enjoy that the last time he played parkland, tree-lined golf here on the DP World Tour, he finished joint ninth at Mount Juliet in the Irish Open.
