Main Bet: Johannes Veerman
This the classic resort course, which is wide from tee, with plant life and ravines. The holes are quite challenging with a stretch that drops towards the ocean and climbs back up again. We should expect low scoring, and when looking for a potential winner, we need to consider closely those who have done well in similar island/resource courses.
Our first pick for this week is Johannes Veerman. The 28 year old American has lived in several places in the world and has a proven record on resort courses on islands. Last autumn, he didn’t manage to win the Cyprus Showdown, but his 262 total was excellent with only one winner in the previous 50 on the European Tour who has gone lower, and that was Higgo previous week. At the end of last year, he also finished eighth at the Dom Pedro Resort in the Portugal Masters and also finished second in Thailand with a total of 260 and 263. Despite missing the cut last week, he was able to play the six par-5s in 4-under. This will be his only third start since he delivered a third round 62 in Kenya and at this price looks value to be in contention, considering that he ranks high for birdies.

Each Way Bet: Connor Syme
Overall last week, Connor Syme did quite well and made three consecutive birdies despite being stumbling in a single hole. Since the beginning of 2020, he has had 28 starts and managed to deliver 12 top 25s, of which eight of those were top 10s. Last week was the fourth time he was in contention in the final lap and, if we exclude one hole, that was an impressive performance. He is clearly progressing, as proven by the fact that last week was also a second top-five in three starts. He also had good par-5 and birdie stats, so definitely worth an each-way punt at this high price.
