Juan Bermudez – 5/2bet365

Delivered a respectable third on seasonal debut and appears to be coming to hand. Could go close if stepping forward from that run.

Chief Black Robe – 12/1Unibet

Hard to judge on sparse recent outings. Showed glimpses of ability in the past, but will need to roll back the clock to feature.

Market House – 4/5bet365

Arrives in red-hot form having finally shed the maiden tag last time. With confidence high, he sets a clear standard in this lineup.

Snitterfield – 33/1Betvictor

Has yet to trouble the judge and improvement is needed from somewhere. Needs a big turnaround to threaten.

Grenardier – 12/1bet365

Ran with credit a few starts ago but has since regressed. Not without hope, but requires a revival to be competitive.

Auba Me Yang – 25/1Unibet

Form figures paint a grim picture. Would be a shock winner unless finding something completely new.

Outback Frontiers – 12/1Betvictor

Not without past form at this course but hasn’t fired in a long while. Capable of a bold run if rediscovering his spark.

Verdict

Market House comes here with strong momentum and looks the most trustworthy option. Juan Bermudez offers a viable threat if improving again from his comeback. Outback Frontiers could be a lively outsider, while Grenardier might pick up the pieces if the race turns attritional.

1. Famous Clermont – 5/6 (Best Odds: bet365)

A highly regarded performer in this sphere, he has added more wins to his already impressive record, including a dominant display on return. Rates the one to beat, and any repeat of that form will make him tough to peg back.

2. Fairly Famous – 6/4 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

One of the rising stars in the amateur hunter scene, this gelding has taken well to the game, posting strong results throughout the spring. Could make a serious race of it if tracking the leader closely before delivering late.

3. Imperial Esprit – 11/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Reliable and honest, this 11-year-old arrives in good heart after scoring last time out. Faces tougher rivals today but is no back number. May run into a place with a patient ride.

4. Somptueux – 10/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Returned with a respectable effort after landing two of his three prior starts in this sphere. Has a touch of class but may be outpaced if this becomes a speed test down the hill.

Verdict

Famous Clermont stands out on ratings and form, and should take plenty of catching if granted a clear run. Fairly Famous has the ability to test the favourite, especially if held up for a late challenge. For each-way backers, Imperial Esprit may offer value at a double-figure price.

1. Buzzard Trix – 33/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Has been thriving in points recently but this represents a different level. A multiple winner lately but likely to find a few too sharp at this higher grade.

2. Coolagh Park – 33/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Bounced back to form with a decent runner-up effort in latest pointing effort. Reliable sort but others possess stronger credentials at this level. Will need to dig deep late on.

3. Dr Lockdown – 40/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Rarely strings together two good efforts, and while capable of decent runs, he’s hard to trust. Could struggle to maintain a strong gallop over this trip against deeper opposition.

4. Hung Jury – 9/2 (Best Odds: bet365)

Recent point success backed up some solid placed form. Strong traveller who can stay this trip, and if he settles, he could mount a late challenge. Each-way shout.

5. I’m Spellbound – 11/2 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Undefeated in five starts between the flags, this rapidly improving type now steps up in company. Big chance if he brings his slick jumping and stamina to this bigger stage.

6. Jeux d’Eau – 9/2 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Has been climbing the ranks quietly with successive wins. Appears to thrive on testing conditions and won’t go down without a fight. Solid contender with momentum behind him.

7. Kilfilum Woods – 25/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Another winning pointer with form figures that read well, though this is a steep rise in grade. Could outrun his price if the leaders go too hard up front.

8. Kings Jet – 5/2 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

A smooth operator who looked classy when scoring last time. Clearly well regarded, and if given a patient ride, he could pick off tiring rivals late. Strong candidate for the top spot.

9. Red Delta – 33/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Struggled for consistency despite a win in points. Unlikely to be up to the demands of this distance or company unless improvement is sudden and dramatic.

10. Slaney Opera – 25/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Has built a nice winning sequence in weaker contests. Faces much stronger rivals now and will need a career-best to make an impact at this level.

11. The Rebel County – 5/2 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Comes into this flying after back-to-back victories. Improving all the time and looks like the stamina test will suit. Big player if he can hold position before the final bend.

Verdict

In a deep renewal, Kings Jet gets the nod thanks to his turn of foot and strong form profile. The Rebel County continues to climb and could pose a major danger if he’s allowed to dictate terms. Of the rest, Jeux d’Eau looks a genuine contender and can reward each-way backers.

1. Empire De Maulde – 8/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Continues to run with real consistency and looked better than ever when runner-up over course and distance last time. Has the class to feature and could pick off rivals late if stamina reserves are managed smartly.

2. Gracchus De Balme – 6/5 (Best Odds: Unibet)

A real force in hunter chases this season, winning with authority before going down narrowly in a tactical finish last time. Looks very tough to oppose based on ratings and is clearly thriving in current form.

3. Jeffery’s Cross – 11/4 (Best Odds: bet365)

Back to winning ways two starts ago and ran another solid race to finish second last time. Tactically versatile and has the ability to lie up with the pace or come with a late run. One of the main challengers to the favourite.

4. Law Of Gold – 11/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

A multiple winner in this code and a horse with stamina in abundance. Hasn’t always found consistency, but if in the mood, he stays better than most and cannot be ruled out on ability alone.

5. Learntalot – 25/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Smart when fresh and has run well in points this spring. Faces a considerable jump in class here and likely needs more experience before landing a blow in company like this.

6. Montanna – 33/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Caught the eye when springing a surprise last time out. Has looked inconsistent but could prove a spoiler if others falter. A bold ride might see him outrun his odds again.

7. Pink Eyed Pedro – 11/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Veteran campaigner who’s won his fair share and still retains enthusiasm. May be best at slightly shorter now, but has place potential if the tempo isn’t too searching.

8. Latenightfumble – 8/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Unbeaten in hunter chases under Gina Andrews and continues to progress. Likely to be prominent from the outset, and her blend of stamina and agility could make her a danger if she sees out this extended trip.

Verdict

Gracchus De Balme has the strongest credentials and could stamp his authority with a bold front-running performance. However, Empire De Maulde has been quietly building an excellent hunter chase record and could pounce late if the leader fades. Latenightfumble, unbeaten under rules, remains a threat and adds further depth to a competitive renewal.

1. Rebel Dawn Rising – 6/5 (Best Odds: bet365)

Fresh from a polished success at this track, this 11-year-old arrives in peak form. Carries top weight but continues to thrive in the sphere, and his reliable profile makes him a solid choice to be there at the finish again.

2. Presentandcounting – 9/2 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Ran some excellent races last term including here at Stratford, though more recently has found consistency hard to come by. If bouncing back, he holds each-way potential, particularly over this sharper test.

**3. Go On Chez – ** Non-runner

Withdrawn prior to race day; no longer participating.

4. Captain Tommy – 6/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Experienced performer with form at a good level under Rules. Ended last season a little flat, but capable of springing a surprise if rediscovering earlier sparkle. Booking of Huw Edwards is a plus.

5. Walkin Out – 2/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Has progressed nicely since switching to the pointing and hunter chase ranks. Lost little in defeat last time and holds genuine claims here, especially if allowed to dictate tempo from the front. Well-handled and improving.

Verdict

Walkin Out has shaped with considerable promise on recent starts and may have more room to develop than the exposed favourite. Rebel Dawn Rising is an ultra-consistent performer and will undoubtedly go close again with a repeat of his last effort. Captain Tommy could outrun his price if things go his way early on.

1. Frere d’Armes – 5/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Returns to hunter company following some tough assignments under Rules, including a below-par run last time. If recapturing earlier promise, particularly from his novice days, he could challenge for a place at decent odds.

2. Joker De Mai – 11/10 (Best Odds: bet365)

Lightly raced but boasts a smart profile, with a win and a second from just three efforts in hunters. Fell when going well last time, but should be a major player here if confidence hasn’t taken a hit. Very likely to be popular in the market.

3. Figaroc – 16/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Well beaten in both recent efforts after a lengthy absence, though previously hinted at fair ability in better company. May struggle to land a blow in this sharp two-miler unless the race falls apart in front.

4. Kansas Du Berlais – 12/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Lightly exposed and still learning the trade in this sphere. Showed ability in points and wasn’t disgraced on his return to Rules. Scopey type who might improve with time, but others look more complete for now.

5. Samtara – 33/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Veteran who picked up a minor contest last time out but has rarely been a threat at this sort of level. Likely to find this much tougher and may get outpaced if they go a strong early gallop.

6. The Big Lense – 2/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Arrives on the back of a winning streak, landing three on the bounce in point-to-points and hunters. Strong travelling type with a good strike rate, and clearly thriving at present. Respected.

Verdict

The Big Lense has been on a roll lately and possesses the tactical pace to cope with this drop back in trip. Joker De Mai is the class angle and would be dangerous if his confidence remains intact after a fall. Frere d’Armes, while needing to bounce back, holds a touch of class that shouldn’t be ignored entirely at the prices.
