A Scudetto Triumph For Napoli?
Key Stats
– Udinese have only won three of their last 13 matches.
– Both teams have scored, and Napoli have won six of their last eight Serie A games against Udinese.
Udinese will host Napoli on Thursday night, with the Partenopei setting their sights on their first Serie A title since 1990. Despite a late goal from Salernitana that delayed Napoli’s Scudetto celebration, Spalletti’s men are heading north confidently as they have an 18-point lead at the top of the table, with the title well within their grasp.
Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia seem to have dipped in form recently, but Napoli still have an impressive away record and a favourable head-to-head history against Udinese, so the task of winning this game looks well within their possibilities.

The Journey to the Scudetto for Napoli
Under the leadership of 64-year-old coach Luciano Spalletti, Napoli have been a truly dominant force in Serie A this season. Away from home, they have won a staggering 14 games out of their 16, which has been one of the key reasons why they have consolidated the top spot. Spalletti would become the oldest coach to win Serie A if things will go their way, with the city welcoming their third title in their history.
Napoli, however, have recently shown signs of nerves or fatigue in recent fixtures, but this is pretty much expected considering how well they have fared this season. A last-minute win against Juventus, however, took them closer to the long-awaited Scudetto, which has eluded them for three decades.
Udinese’s Struggle and Hopes for an Upset
After a remarkable start to their season, Udinese have had their share of struggles this season, winning only three of their last 13 matches. Despite the disappointing run, they have managed to defeat both Milan clubs and Roma at the Dacia Arena and will be hoping to make headlines again.
But their recent history against Napoli is not in their favour, as they have conceded two goals in each of their last six encounters and haven’t been able to defeat the Partenopei at home since April 2016. Sottil’s men are hoping to end the season as high as eighth in the standings and surely will not make life easy for Napoli to secure the Scudetto on Thursday.
Key Players, Injuries, and Potential Lineups
While Napoli’s Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia have experienced a dip in form recently, their past performances against Udinese suggest that they could be the protagonists in securing the three points. Udinese should benefit from the return of Isaac Success and Beto from injury, which should give more depth to their attack. Spalletti will still be without Mario Rui, with Mathias Olivera continuing to fill in at left back. Overall, I don’t expect the Tuscan manager to change much from the game against Salernitana, with Hirving Lozano joining the visitors’ feared forwards.
For Udinese, Ilija Nestorovski will likely make way for Success and Beto, while captain Roberto Pereyra should support Beto in a 3-5-1-1 formation. With the exception of Gerard Deulofeu and Enzo Ebosse, who are out for the remainder of the season, Andrea Sottil has a mostly full squad to choose from in this clash.
