  • Serbia’s scoring struggles: Serbia have only managed two goals in their three Nations League matches, with their attack misfiring and heavily reliant on Mitrovic.
  • Spain’s rock-solid defence: Spain have conceded just one goal in their three matches, boasting the best defensive record in Group 4, and average 0.3 goals conceded per game.
  • Low-scoring trend: Each of Serbia’s last six matches have featured fewer than three goals, showing their matches tend to be tight, low-scoring affairs, and this could continue against Spain.

Our Tips

Draw and Both Teams to Score
19/5 - odds when tipped
Demo Image
Reasoning
A Draw and Both Teams to Score looks likely, as Shrewsbury and Exeter have solid defences but enough attacking threat to score. Their form suggests a closely contested, low-scoring encounter.
Joël Piroe to Score Anytime
9/5 - odds when tipped
Demo Image
Reasoning
Joël Piroe to score anytime offers value. His sharp finishing and positioning, combined with Leeds' high shot rate, make him a strong bet to break through Sheffield United's defence.
Draw 1-1
5/1 - odds when tipped

Reasoning
A 1-1 draw seems the most likely outcome, with Leeds' attacking strength countered by Sheffield United’s solid defence. Both teams should score, but neither looks capable of dominating the other.

Spain’s 2024-25 UEFA Nations League campaign has been a rollercoaster of performances so far, and the stakes are only getting higher as they prepare to host Serbia in a critical clash on Tuesday night. La Roja will be looking to maintain their spot at the top of Group 4, but standing in their way is a Serbia team that, while inconsistent, are more than capable of throwing a spanner in the works for Luis de la Fuente’s men. Both sides are coming off the back of narrow but important victories in their previous outings, with Spain securing a hard-fought 1-0 win over Denmark and Serbia picking up a solid 2-0 victory against Switzerland. With both teams in need of points, this encounter promises to be a cagey yet fascinating contest.

Best Bet: Spain to Win and Under 2.5 Goals

The standout prediction for this match has to be a home win for Spain, combined with fewer than 2.5 goals scored in the contest. Spain are undoubtedly the favourites, but recent form suggests this won’t be a walk in the park. De la Fuente’s side are dealing with several injuries, including key players like Rodri, Dani Olmo, and Gavi, which has forced the manager to shuffle his deck. The Spanish attack, while still potent, has not been as clinical in recent outings, evident in their narrow victory over Denmark.

Defensively, Spain have been rock-solid. They’ve only conceded one goal across their three Nations League matches so far, and even though Serbia will bring a threat in the form of Aleksandar Mitrovic, Spain’s defence, led by Aymeric Laporte, has shown resilience. Serbia themselves have struggled to find the back of the net consistently, averaging just 0.7 goals per game in this Nations League campaign, and they were held to a goalless draw by Spain when these sides met in September.

The fact that Serbia have kept two clean sheets in their three matches indicates that they can make life difficult for opponents, even away from home. However, with Spain dominating possession and controlling the tempo of games, it’s hard to see Serbia getting many clear-cut chances. Serbia’s recent 2-0 win over Switzerland might suggest they’re finding form, but that result had more to do with Switzerland’s defensive errors than Serbia’s attacking brilliance.

This match feels like one where Spain will grind out a result, perhaps with another late goal like the one that secured victory against Denmark. As BettingTips4You.com expert Gerard Gabasa puts it: “Spain are a team that knows how to win ugly when needed, and with the injuries they’re facing, expect a pragmatic approach, a lot of possession, and a narrow win.” The stats back this up – Spain have only conceded 0.3 goals per game in this competition and average 56.3% possession. Serbia, on the other hand, have managed just 35% possession and average only 7.7 shots per game. Spain should dominate this encounter, but a low-scoring affair seems most likely.

Correct Score Prediction: Spain 1-0 Serbia

Given the form of both teams and the injury issues Spain are dealing with, a 1-0 scoreline seems the most realistic outcome. Spain have been winning their games by the narrowest of margins lately, and although Serbia have some attacking firepower in Mitrovic, it’s hard to see them breaking down Spain’s organised defence, especially on Spanish soil.

Serbia have struggled to create many clear chances in their recent matches, with their attack looking particularly toothless at times. They’ve only managed to score two goals across their three Nations League matches, and one of those was an own goal by Switzerland. The lack of creativity and cutting edge in the final third could well be their undoing once again. Spain’s clean sheet record speaks for itself, and while they might not blow Serbia away, they should have just enough to get the job done.

Spain’s dominance in possession should frustrate Serbia, forcing them to defend deep and look for opportunities on the counter. However, as seen in their previous meetings, Serbia struggle to hold onto the ball, and with Spain’s pressing and organised defence, Mitrovic might find himself isolated up front for large stretches of the match.

In terms of creating chances, Spain average 18.3 shots per game, though their conversion rate has not been spectacular, with only five goals to show from their three matches. However, one well-constructed move could be enough to unlock Serbia’s defence, and given Alvaro Morata’s experience and goalscoring ability, he’s the most likely candidate to find the back of the net.
