Slavia Prague vs Queens Park Rangers Predictions

Battle of Resilience and Redemption
Key Stats
– QPR managed to retain their Championship status last season, showcasing their ability to stay resilient under pressure, suggesting they will not be a walkover for Slavia Prague.
– Both teams’ attacking and defensive patterns suggest a high possibility of both sides scoring in their upcoming encounter, with Slavia Prague having a slight edge in securing a win.
While enjoying their pre-season training camp in Austria, English side Queens Park Rangers (QPR) are set to face off against Czech powerhouse, Slavia Prague, in a friendly match slated for Saturday afternoon at Raiffeisen Arena. This will serve as a challenging encounter for Gareth Ainsworth’s men, who are also scheduled to square off with Vorwarts Steyr before they return home.
Their opponents, under the command of Jindrich Trpisovsky, have already secured two 2-1 victories in their pre-season fixtures, making a spirited effort to reclaim their status as the leaders of the Fortuna Liga. Despite concluding the 2022-23 campaign with three back-to-back victories, Slavia Prague’s reign in the Czech Republic faced a disappointing halt. Their fierce rivals, Sparta Prague, snatched the title from them, beating them to the finish line by a slim margin of two points.

In the lead-up to this bitter disappointment, Slavia Prague overcame formidable challenges in the form of Sigma Olomouc, Viktoria Plzen, and Slovacko – with the latter conceding four goals to Slavia’s Vaclav Jurecka alone. Slavia Prague faced a critical 3-2 loss against Sparta Prague, a decisive game that effectively ended their hopes of a fifth consecutive top-flight title.
Yet, Slavia Prague did not leave the season empty-handed. They clinched their 11th Czech Cup victory, exacting a modicum of revenge by beating Sparta Prague 2-0 in the final. Despite this win, the Red and Whites missed out on a position in the Europa Conference League knockout rounds, finishing third in Group G.
Preparations For a New Beginning
Having dusted themselves off from these setbacks, Slavia Prague commenced their preparation for the new season on a high note. They faced off against Maccabi Haifa and Rakow Czestochowa, with both teams earning 2-1 wins.
Post their Friday friendly against Podbrezova, the match against QPR will serve as their penultimate pre-season exhibition match. They are set to finalise their preparations against Dynamo Dresden, before they jump into the new Czech First League season scheduled for the third weekend of July.
QPR: Staving Off Relegation and Eyeing Better Days
As Slavia Prague waged war for supremacy at the top end of the Fortuna Liga table, Queens Park Rangers found themselves tangled in a relegation struggle in the Championship. A total of fifty points, however, proved to be enough to ensure their survival in the second-tier of English football.
Ainsworth’s QPR tasted only one defeat in their last four games, managing to secure crucial victories over champions Burnley and Stoke City. This feat allowed QPR to secure their Championship status before matchday 46, rendering their final 2-0 loss to Bristol City meaningless for the 20th-placed side.
The Road Ahead and Predictions
Following their Austria training camp, QPR are slated to return home to clash with AFC Wimbledon, Reading, and Oxford United. They will kickstart their Championship campaign against Watford at home on August 5.
Ainsworth’s QPR, while showing signs of promise, also reveals vulnerabilities. Their rustiness combined with a depleted squad might make them susceptible to pre-season losses. Taking into consideration QPR’s last season’s statistics, they had an average of 1 goal per game, with a relatively high goal concession rate of 1.5 per game. This suggests that there’s a significant chance of them conceding at least one goal against Slavia Prague.
On the other hand, Slavia Prague have also shown a consistent pattern of securing 2-1 victories. Considering their proactive approach to games and a well-coordinated attacking lineup, it is safe to predict a possible scoreline of 2-1 in favour of Slavia Prague in the upcoming fixture, who have been working for longer so likely to have a better condition compared with the Championship side.
