A Battle for Survival

Key Stats
– Leeds United have conceded in their last nine games.
– Leicester City have gone 13 games without a clean sheet.
– The Foxes have lost only one of their last nine encounters

Leeds United and Leicester are facing each other in what is a crucial relegation battle at Elland Road, with both teams involved in the battle to avoid the drop. Leeds have been struggling recently with Javi Garcia, who hasn’t been able to turn things around, while Leicester have shown some signs of improvement following the arrival of new manager Dean Smith.

Leeds United’s Recent Woes

Leeds United’s recent form has been woeful, as they have conceded heavy losses at home to both Crystal Palace and Liverpool. Their main problem is the weak defence, and even if they did put up a strong fight against Fulham, the 2-1 defeat has left them just a point above the relegation zone. With only six games remaining, it is paramount for the Whites to make as many points as possible at home, and defeating Leicester would go a long way to ensuring safety.

Leicester City’s Signs of Recovery

It has been a painful season for the Foxes, who made the decision to sack Brendan Rodgers earlier this month. The Scot has been replaced by Dean Smith, who seems to have been able to improve things, despite the fact that more is needed. After a spirited performance against Manchester City, the Foxes secured a crucial 2-1 win over Wolves, who have lifted them out of the bottom three on goal difference. Now for Dean Smith, it is key to build up momentum and try to take advantage of Leeds’ defensive issues.

Leeds vs Leicester City Main Betting Tip: Both Teams To Score

Both these two teams have scored regularly but struggle to keep clean sheets.

Leeds have conceded goals in the last nine matches, while Leicester have gone 13 games without a clean sheet. We therefore expect a rather entertaining affair at Elland Road, with the main bet being that both teams to score.

Leeds vs Leicester City Value Bet: Leeds Over 1 Goal, Leicester Over 1 Card & Leeds Over 5 Corners

For our value bet, we have picked a bet builder that is made of three selections and that currently returns a healthy 19/5 with William Hill. As mentioned before, Leeds do not have problems scoring goals, especially at home, where they have scored 22 goals in 16 games, which is well more than a goal per game. Couple this with Leicester’s weak defence, who have conceded 1.8 goals per game this season, and it is realistic to expect at least two goals from the Whites.

This is a crucial relegation battle, and things are likely to get quite heated with so much at stake. Leeds, however, have a much more physical game and are averaging 2.2 yellow cards per game vs. 1.5 for Leicester. They also have an average of 12.1 fouls per game vs. 10.8 for the Foxes. Leeds are likely to receive more cards than Leicester, but the Foxes are likely to get a bit more than their normal average in a clash of this nature.

When it comes to corners, we should also expect Leeds to prevail, especially as they are at home and play more aggressively. Overall, Leeds have an average of 5.3 corners per game vs. the 3.5 of Leicester, so backing this treble looks great value to me, and I suggest it.

Leeds vs Leicester City Correct Score Prediction: Leeds 2-1

We expect a close affair between two teams that have similar qualities, but the ‘Elland Road’ effect should be considered. If we exclude the latest performances, Leeds have done well when playing at home, and in such an important game, having the crowd on their side might push the team to deliver.

Leicester remain vulnerable even if the Dean Smith ‘honeymoon’ has delivered some earlier results. Backing Leeds to edge it 2-1 looks like the best bet in the correct score market between two teams that are struggling to record clean sheets.
