Crawley Town vs Shrewsbury Predictions
Best Odds Boost for this Match
Can Crawley or Shrewsbury Find the Win They Desperately Need?
- Crawley’s Inability to Score: Crawley have failed to score in five of their last seven League One matches, managing just five goals in nine league games this season. With their top scorer Junior Quitirna on just three goals, they are desperately lacking cutting edge.
- Shrewsbury’s Leaky Defence: Shrewsbury have conceded 17 goals in their 10 league games so far, with an average of 1.7 goals allowed per match. Their backline, despite being experienced, has failed to provide any real stability, making clean sheets a rare occurrence.
- Home Advantage?: Crawley might be at home, but they’ve lost five matches on the bounce, showing that playing at Broadfield Stadium doesn’t offer them any particular boost. With Shrewsbury’s poor away form mirroring Crawley’s home struggles, this makes the draw even more likely.
Our Tips
Arsenal -1 to Win | |
4/5 - odds when tipped | |
Reasoning Arsenal to win with a one-goal handicap is the best bet, given their dominant home form and Monaco’s defensive absences, making it tough for the visitors to contain Arsenal’s attack.
Over 12.5 Corners | |
3/1 - odds when tipped | |
Reasoning Expect a high corner count as Arsenal and Monaco’s attacking width and intent drive opportunities, with Arsenal averaging over six corners per game at home and Monaco pushing as underdogs.
Arsenal 2-0 | |
6/1 - odds when tipped | |
Reasoning A 2-0 Arsenal victory is predicted, showcasing their dominant home form and efficient attack, while Monaco’s defensive issues and limited offensive options enhance Arsenal’s chances of a clean sheet. |
With tensions high, Crawley Town welcome Shrewsbury Town to Broadfield Stadium for what promises to be a tense League One battle. Both teams find themselves teetering near the bottom of the table, desperate to pull themselves out of this grim relegation fight. Crawley, under new management with Rob Elliot recently stepping in, will be looking to halt a run of five consecutive defeats in all competitions. Meanwhile, Shrewsbury’s form has been equally disastrous, having lost seven of their last 10 league matches, and they too are searching for any glimmer of hope.
The stage is set for a scrappy encounter as both sides know that dropping points here could edge them closer to the dreaded relegation zone. Neither team has found consistency this season, making it difficult to predict a winner with much confidence. But given the desperation on display, it’s certain that both sides will be fighting tooth and nail. Still, with confidence at rock bottom for both teams, this is shaping up to be a contest where nerves could take centre stage, and the result might just reflect that uncertainty.
Best Bet: Draw
Let’s not beat around the bush—this match screams “draw” from miles away. With both Crawley and Shrewsbury struggling to find their form and goals coming at a premium for these sides, the chances of either team pulling off a win look slim. Crawley’s issues in front of goal have been well documented. Scoring only five goals in nine matches this season and failing to find the back of the net in five of their last seven league games paints a bleak picture. Meanwhile, Shrewsbury are hardly in better shape, averaging just 0.8 goals per game.
What makes a draw even more tempting is the fact that neither side seems capable of pulling away once they take the lead. Shrewsbury, for instance, recently threw away a two-goal advantage against Bolton, finishing with a 2-2 draw. And while Crawley have shown some fight—like their recent 4-3 loss to AFC Wimbledon after clawing back from 3-0 down—those kinds of matches are draining and rarely sustainable. Crawley’s defence, which has conceded 13 goals this season, hardly inspires confidence. At the same time, Shrewsbury’s record of 17 goals shipped doesn’t suggest they will suddenly tighten up at the back.
On the flip side, the fact that Crawley are playing at home and Shrewsbury have been woeful away from home, failing to win since March, should balance out the scales nicely. This fixture feels destined for a stalemate, with both teams too afraid to lose, which often leads to a cagey, low-risk affair.
“Given the lack of firepower on both sides and the tendency to crumble under pressure, a draw seems the safest bet for this contest,” says BettingTips4You.com expert Steve Harrington. “Neither team looks capable of running away with this, so expect them to cancel each other out.”
Correct Score Prediction: 1-1
For those eyeing a more specific outcome, a 1-1 draw feels like the most probable scoreline. While both sides are struggling to score, they also have defences that are far from watertight. Crawley’s tendency to concede at least one goal per game and Shrewsbury’s even worse defensive record, allowing an average of 1.7 goals per match, suggests that neither side will be able to keep a clean sheet.
Crawley do have a slight edge in terms of goals from midfield, with Junior Quitirna netting three times this season. However, their inability to sustain pressure in attack, reflected by their 11.4 shots per game (of which only 3.2 are on target), means they are likely to convert just one of their chances. On the other hand, Shrewsbury, led by Leo Castledine in midfield, have shown they can snatch a goal or two, even if they don’t manage to string together consistent attacking phases.
Given the shaky nature of both defences, a 1-1 scoreline seems like the logical conclusion. Neither team has the firepower to put this game to bed, but both should be able to at least find the net once.
