Napoli have managed to win 11 of their last 13 matches in all competitions, with Victor Osimhen, who has been their star, scoring 15 goals in 13 appearances for Napoli. He was, however, absent earlier this month, when AC Milan was able to pull off a surprising 4-0 win against the Partenopei in Serie A.

That might well have been a blip, and it is certainly what the bookmakers believe, as they have made the Italian champions-elect the strong favourite to progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League. After all, that 4-0 result was an anomaly for both sides, as it was Milan’s only win in their last six matches and Napoli’s only second loss in 13 Serie A matches.
AC Milan and Napoli have also had very different Champions League campaigns. Milan had to labour to get a 1-0 aggregate win over Tottenham, while Napoli hammered Eintracht Frankfurt for 5-0. Luciano Spalletti’s side have netted an impressive 25 goals in eight matches this season in this competition, which also includes a 4-1 win over Liverpool, a 6-1 win over Ajax, and a 4-2 home win also against Ajax.
Now that they have a comfortable 16-point cushion in Serie A, Napoli can focus solely on the Champions League, while AC Milan are fighting for a top-four spot with Lazio, Roma, Inter Milan, and Atalanta.

Looking at the statistics, it is impressive to note that the last six meetings between these two teams have been won by the away team. With Napoli in such form and keen to get revenge on the defeat suffered a couple of weeks ago, it makes sense to back the away side to get a win in this first leg. Napoli also won 2-1 in San Siro back in September, and considering Milan’s struggles, it makes sense to back them to get back south with a decent lead.
Even if earlier in the season Milan managed to score a goal against Napoli at home, I don’t see this happening this time, and I believe there is decent value in backing Napoli to win to nil. Stefano Pioli’s side has been struggling to score goals, if we exclude the isolated case of Diego Armando Maradona’s stadium, and they would rather try to stay in the tie than risk conceding more goals.

Victor Osimhen, if he was able to be fit, would have been the player to watch in the goalscorer market and the one that could well make the difference in this tie. In his absence, we can expect other players to step up, like Hirving Lozano, who will have the duty of opening up the opponents’ defence.
The Mexican has already delivered three assists in Serie A and one in the Champions League and is likely to be at the service of Simeone or Raspadori, so it looks valuable for him to deliver at least one assist with BetVictor, who have boosted the price, at the moment of writing, to 9/2 from 19/5.

Napoli are having an incredible season, and almost certainly they will bring home the first Serie A title since 1990. Progressing in the Champions League is going to be another fantastic result for Luciano Spalletti’s side, so we expect a fully focused Napoli, ready for the task ahead.
Surely the recent heavy defeat to Milan might have shaken their confidence a bit, and the absence of Osimhen is a big blow for them. Having said that, they should be able to get a win, but expect Milan to keep the tie competitive heading into the second leg.
