Among the runners, Beautify commands immediate attention. With the ever-reliable Ryan Moore taking the reins and trained by A P O’Brien, she enters the race with strong expectations, her pedigree underpinned by the influential sire Wootton Bassett. Not far behind in the betting, Cape Sounion—another runner from Donnacha Aidan O’Brien’s yard—showed glimmers of talent when finishing runner-up on her first outing. The form of that race, however, has since taken a hit with the winner disappointing next time.
Paris Carver also brings intrigue to the table as a well-bred US purchase, carrying a hefty price tag and with strong connections suggesting she may be ready to perform on debut. Composing, under Wayne Lordan, is another debutant with a striking bloodline and purchase price to match, while Amerilis, representing the high-flying P Twomey yard, looks to make a statement on her first racecourse appearance. Further down the field, the likes of Hasita, McHenry Sunrise and Dancing Saxon could surprise with improvement but may find the pace too sharp.

Nap of the Day: Balantina to win – 1:20 Curragh
Despite her fourth-place finish on debut, there is compelling evidence to believe that Balantina is poised to show her true colours in this second outing. Donnacha Aidan O’Brien’s filly, guided this time by the supremely in-form Oisin Murphy (33% strike rate over the past fortnight), displayed plenty of latent ability at this venue earlier in the month, despite revealing signs of immaturity. She returns to the same track and trip, and the booking of Murphy—a rider currently among the most effective in the weighing room—is a clear vote of confidence from connections.
Her initial Racing Post Rating of 68 gives her a solid base to build upon, especially considering the strength of the opposition she faced, the winner of that contest having already progressed to take on tougher company in the Marble Hill. With race experience now under her belt, and trained by a handler who, despite a modest recent strike rate, consistently develops his two-year-olds with patience and intent, she looks likely to progress markedly. The pedigree also speaks volumes: by Ten Sovereigns and out of a Montjeu mare, she is bred to improve as she matures and should relish the test of six furlongs. Given the greenness she exhibited first time, natural improvement could be all it takes for her to assert herself against this relatively inexperienced field.
