The field is deep with familiar handicappers who bring contrasting profiles to a mile in the sludge. Drawn low, Broken Spear arrives out of sorts but has past soft-ground form, while Cavallo Pazzo has hinted at a revival and historically handles the slog. When others’ stamina ebbs late, his proven grit on testing ground can carry him past tiring rivals in the final 200 yards.
