Jordan Spieth To Win

Main Bet: Jordan Spieth
Our main pick for this week is Jordan Spieth, who has already won a Claret Jug after his sensational finish of the 2017 Open at Royal Birkdale. Two years before, he won at St Andrews, and it makes sense to back him to do it again. Spieth has been in very good form so far this season, and surely he feels at home with August link. Creativity is a huge factor here, in addition to experience: nine of the last 10 winners at The Open at St Andrews have previously made the top three in the US Masters.
Spieth has a fantastic form at Augusta having recorded a win, two seconds and two thirds. If we expand our look to his performances in majors, we can see that in addition to winning three of them, he has also secured at least one top three every year since 2014, with the only exception being from 2020 when the Open wasn’t played. He has yet to win one this season, which might signal that we should back him. Let’s not forget tough his big performance in the Scottish Open, and having the opportunity to get acclimatised to the Scottish environment last week could be a major advantage for him this time around.

Tony Finau (Each Way) To Win
£20 bet returns £110 (if placed) with Betvictor

Each-way Bet: Tony Finau
If we look at the data, we can see that eight of the last 10 Open champions have managed at least one top 10 in one of their previous three tournaments. This makes Tony Finau particularly attractive after his second place in the Canadian Open last month, which followed a 4th place in the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial. Since then, he was also tied 13th in the Travelers Championship last time he was seen.
If we expand our look to May, we can see that he also finished second in the Mexico Open, so Finau comes here in great form and confidence. The decision not to enter the Scottish Open could also be positive, as he will be more relaxed than many of his competitors. Finau finished 10th both times he played in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, so he clearly has course form too. Finau, who had three top 10s at the US Masters, has what it takes to be in contention here and worth an each-way punt at this high price.
