Porto step into the Primeira Liga curtain-raiser under a cloud of off-field sadness but with a point to prove on it. New boss Francesco Farioli has had little time to implement his ideas, yet back-to-back pre-season wins over Twente and Atletico Madrid suggest the squad is already responding well.
Historically, the Dragons have been a nightmare opponent for Vitoria, winning eight of the last ten encounters. Even last season, when Porto finished a disappointing third, they still found a way past the visitors more often than not. This Allsvenskan clash has the potential to explode into a high-scoring affair. GAIS have been in fine form, unbeaten in eleven and scoring in almost every match. Their approach under Fredrik Holmberg is aggressive, with both full-backs pushing high and midfielders arriving late in the box.
