Lucky 15 Tips: Wednesday September 24 – Four to Follow from Kempton, Perth and Goodwood

Wednesday’s cards stretch across the country, and while there may not be Group 1 action on the line, there’s no shortage of opportunities for sharp punters to uncover value. Our expert panel has cast a wide net over the day’s racing and handpicked four high-confidence selections from Kempton, Goodwood, and a competitive afternoon at Perth. Each of these four bets has been independently selected by one of our specialists—John Pentin, Herrin Kendrick, Gram Dodd and Steve Harrington—with reasoning rooted in form, trends, and conditions.

Let’s dive into today’s Lucky 15, with rationale and race context for each leg.

Reasoning
Our Wednesday Lucky 15 features four standout selections from Kempton, Perth and Goodwood, each carefully analysed by our team of experts. With unexposed potential in Finalise, proven form from Arctic Dawn, and intriguing returners in Whispering Hopes and Whistle Stop Tour, this combo brings both value and logic. Worth the play.

19:10 Kempton – Arctic Dawn

Herrin Kendrick; Racing Analyst at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
The evening’s feature on the Polytrack sees Arctic Dawn return to the scene of his recent success, where he delivered a dominant performance to put the race to bed with style. He’s now rated 84 after being raised 5lb for that clear-cut win, but there’s every reason to believe he remains on the right side of the handicapper. What impressed most was the way he shifted gears when asked, stretching away from the field without looking under serious pressure.

This four-year-old is clearly suited to Kempton’s layout, and that tactical speed he showed last time could again prove decisive. The stable of Daniel and Claire Kubler has been in sharp form recently, and David Egan retains the ride—a sign of confidence considering his familiarity with the horse. The opposition doesn’t look any stronger than the field he dismantled earlier this month, and if Arctic Dawn is anywhere near that level again, he should be more than capable of following up. Even with the penalty, he looks the class act here and is expected to confirm that status.

15:43 Perth – Whispering Hopes

Steve Harrington; National Hunt Expert at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
In this 2m handicap hurdle, Whispering Hopes is the one that catches the eye as a well-treated mare travelling over from County Meath. Although still a maiden after 15 starts, her recent form figures tell a more revealing story. She ran with credit on her last two outings at Sligo, placing both times and beaten only narrowly. Those efforts hint that she’s ready to get her head in front, especially now tackling what looks like a slightly weaker event.

Gordon Elliott has a great strike rate when sending runners to Perth, and the fact he’s sending this one over for a midweek meeting suggests intent. Sean Bowen is unavailable, but Danny Gilligan has made the journey and is no stranger to delivering for the yard. The ground should be fine, the trip is ideal, and she has the fitness edge over some of her rivals. From her current mark, she has a genuine opportunity to strike, and the expected strong pace could play perfectly into her hands. If she builds on recent consistency, this could finally be her day.

16:15 Perth – Whistle Stop Tour

Gram Dodd; Jumps Racing Contributor at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Returning to action after a break since April, Whistle Stop Tour reappears in a competitive handicap chase but could make an immediate impact. Trained by the dual operation of Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore, this seven-year-old has already shown he’s more effective over fences than he ever was as a hurdler. He’s four wins from twelve starts under rules and also boasts a bumper success, which speaks to his natural ability.

His last run was in no less than the Ultima at Cheltenham, where he had excuses after getting shuffled back in a rough race. The fact he was sent off at 12/1 in such a deep contest is a good indicator of how highly regarded he is. Now, dropped back in grade and returning fresh, he looks to have been carefully placed. Derek Fox takes the ride again, and with a liking for softer conditions and a decent gallop expected, everything seems in place for a big run. If he’s tuned up for this, he has enough class to blow this field away.

16:45 Goodwood – Finalise

John Pentin; Sports Journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
There’s a strong case to be made for Finalise in this fillies’ handicap over 1m6f, particularly given the striking profile she brings. Lightly raced, she is stepping into handicap company after an emphatic novice win over 1m4f at Kempton last month, where she galloped clear to win by a wide margin. The horse she beat that day, Gnomon, has since come out and won a handicap easily, which adds substance to the form.

Finalise is a half-sister to Group performer Bashkirova, but it’s another sibling—Royal Mila—that may be most relevant here. Trained by the same yard, Royal Mila won this very race two years ago on just her fourth start off a mark of 86. Finalise arrives for the same connections in nearly identical circumstances, but rated slightly lower off 84. The parallels are striking, and William Haggas has shown a knack for getting these types ready at just the right moment. With the step up to 1m6f likely to bring out further improvement, she could take a lot of stopping.
