Reasoning
Our Lucky 15 brings together Forest Caper at Doncaster, Joyful Tidings at the Curragh, Parisian Scholar at Musselburgh and Jer Batt back at Doncaster. Each selection carries strong recent evidence, ideal conditions, and favourable handicapping. Combined, they represent a well-balanced mix of youth, progression and course form with real value.

13:20 Doncaster – Forest Caper

John Pentin; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You

Rationale:
Forest Caper looks ready to build on encouraging signs and could be primed to break his maiden in the opening division of the I Love Julie Parkes Handicap over 1m2f. On his first attempt at this distance at Redcar, he endured an interrupted passage that left him without the chance to show what he could truly offer. When returned to Doncaster for his latest outing, he settled better and produced a stronger performance, finishing within a length of the winner despite still appearing to be learning on the job.

The step up in trip is beginning to unlock potential from this Lope De Vega gelding, who has the pedigree to thrive over middle distances. The handicapper has raised him only 1lb for that near miss, suggesting there remains scope for further progress. Trainer David O’Meara’s string are starting to hit form, and Forest Caper represents the type of horse who could continue his upward trajectory on a fair track like Doncaster. With more improvement expected, this lightly-raced runner looks a sound choice to start the Lucky 15 in the right way.

14:05 Curragh – Joyful Tidings

Herrin Kendrick; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You

Rationale:
Joyful Tidings heads to the Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes with a profile that suggests he has been targeted specifically at this valuable prize. The A’ali colt made an immediate impression on debut at Tipperary back in April, quickening clear on soft ground to land the spoils in style. Market confidence was significant that day, reflecting the belief connections had in his ability, and that victory has been strongly underpinned since by the runner-up, who rattled off two subsequent wins, including in Listed company at the same track. Gosden team, a signal that the camp see this as a key stepping stone towards the principal seven and eight-furlong contests already on his radar.

Trainer Gavin Cromwell has managed his charge carefully, giving him a mid-season break to keep him fresh for this €138,000 contest, and the Curragh looks a fitting stage for his return. His proven ability to act with cut underfoot is another key asset, as conditions are unlikely to be fast. With Gary Carroll once again taking the ride, Joyful Tidings should get the chance to confirm himself as a high-class juvenile and justify the confidence placed in him. He stands out as the one to beat here, and it would be no surprise to see the money come again in support.

14:50 Musselburgh – Parisian Scholar

Gram Dodd; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You

Rationale:
Parisian Scholar enters handicap company for the first time after three educational runs and gives the impression of a youngster on the cusp of improvement. His latest effort at Chelmsford represented a step forward, as he began to get the hang of things and finished strongly despite still showing signs of inexperience. By the time they reached the final furlong, he was making steady late headway, suggesting a stiffer test of stamina would play to his strengths.

The Johnston yard know how to extract progression from this type, and the colt’s middle-distance pedigree is an encouraging sign that 7f to a mile and beyond will bring out more. Off an opening mark of 60, he looks fairly treated considering what he hinted at last time, and Musselburgh’s turning nature should help him settle early before using that stamina late on. With Jason Hart booked to do the steering, everything looks in place for a much sharper display now that handicaps are on the agenda. He has the potential to outclass this field if taking the expected step forward.

16:40 Doncaster – Jer Batt

Steve Harrington; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You

Rationale:
Jer Batt returns to Doncaster for the 4.40 and looks primed to bounce back after a below-par effort last time, when circumstances conspired against him. In that race, a front-runner controlled matters from the outset, leaving the rest of the field unable to land a blow, and Jer Batt never had the chance to make his presence felt. That performance is best ignored, and the return to a track that has previously seen him record his career-best performance is an obvious plus.

Importantly, he is now set to compete off a mark that is 3lb lower than when producing that standout effort here in October. That handicap ease could be just enough to swing things back in his favour, particularly with the course conditions playing to his strengths. Doncaster’s long straight provides an ideal opportunity for his late kick to be deployed effectively. With the weights more favourable and a return to familiar surroundings, Jer Batt appears to have plenty in his favour and looks well positioned to close out the Lucky 15 on a high note.
