This Monday’s programme across Britain and Ireland brings together a mixture of jump and flat meetings with plenty of depth for punters to consider. At Perth we get a fascinating novice chase where a seasoned hurdler makes his first attempt over larger obstacles, while Newcastle provides competitive all-weather action in the evening with handicaps stacked with interesting angles. Galway once again serves up a jumps contest of genuine intrigue, where proven course form collides with rivals stepping into deeper waters, and across the card at Newcastle another well-handicapped runner looks set to deliver after a break.
To make sense of today’s action, our panel of four BettingTips4You experts have each put forward one confident selection to combine into a Lucky 15 accumulator. John Pentin, Herrin Kendrick, Gram Dodd, and Steve Harrington have studied the cards and each has identified the standout opportunity in their chosen race. Below you’ll find their considered reasoning, with each tip explained in depth.

14:40 Perth – Frisby
John Pentin; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Frisby has been edging closer to a breakthrough success, and this step into chasing may finally unlock the door. A point-to-point winner at Dromahane before switching to rules, he showed ability in bumpers when finishing second to a horse who would later place at Grade 1 level. Since then, every hurdle start has seen him hold his own, including two recent third-placed finishes at this course and distance.

That most recent effort reads stronger than it might first appear. The form is holding up extremely well, with the winner and others from the same race running with credit subsequently. A switch to fences is often the making of horses with point-to-point backgrounds, and the way Frisby jumps suggests this could be the natural progression. Added confidence comes from having Brian Hughes in the saddle, a rider who has taken this very contest in each of the past two years. With that blend of relevant experience, consistency, and suitability for the larger obstacles, Frisby looks ready to seize the moment.
20:10 Newcastle – Ganesha
Herrin Kendrick; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Ganesha returns after a short layoff, and the break is unlikely to be a negative given how well he has gone fresh before. His record at Newcastle is particularly compelling, with both of his all-weather wins arriving here, and he now drops back into 0-65 company after contesting stronger races earlier in the season. That should make this assignment much more manageable.

The form of his spring success at this course and trip was franked by subsequent performances from rivals, and although he has been mixing results since, the context of those races explains the inconsistencies. Facing a field where the main opposition consists of lightly raced three-year-olds who have questions to answer at this level, Ganesha brings the right balance of proven ability and favourable conditions. Trainer Phillip Makin’s team are operating steadily with a couple of winners in the last fortnight, and Rowan Scott knows how to get a tune out of this horse. Off a workable mark and back at a venue he thrives at, Ganesha stands out as the one to side with.
18:22 Galway – My Great Mate
Gram Dodd; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Few horses boast such a strong course record as My Great Mate, who has compiled figures of 1312 at Galway. His most recent run came over this very trip, where he was beaten only by a high-class rival who subsequently scored again in impressive fashion. Sent off favourite that day, he travelled powerfully before being put in his place late by a horse proven in Champion Hurdle company.
That run should not be underestimated, as it came on his chasing debut and highlighted both his fluency over the larger obstacles and his appetite for the stiff Galway finish. He now faces horses of obvious ability in Rocky’s Diamond and Waterford Whispers, but both return from breaks, whereas My Great Mate brings the benefit of race fitness. With Willie Mullins handling his preparation, improvement on his second chase start is highly likely. Conditions, distance, and track all play to his strengths, making him the one to beat again.
16:34 Windsor – Tokyo Joe
Steve Harrington; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Tokyo Joe lines up at Windsor for his first crack at a handicap, and everything about his profile screams untapped potential. A son of Siyouni, he has displayed ability across maiden and novice races, finishing second at Southwell before a slightly sharper trip at Haydock caught him out last time. Since then, connections have opted to geld him, which should help him concentrate and apply himself fully under pressure.
The step back to a mile is exactly what he wants, especially as his pedigree points to stamina combined with a smooth cruising speed. A decent tempo is anticipated courtesy of pace from Dalmally and Naina, which should allow Tom Marquand to ride him quietly before unleashing his stride in the closing stages. Trainer Ed Walker’s team are in good form, with several recent winners, and Tokyo Joe looks favourably treated off an opening mark of 78. This is the type of runner who can improve significantly now handicapping, and Windsor provides the perfect setting for a breakthrough.
