Friday’s Lucky 15 | |
581/1 - odds when tipped | |
Reasoning Today’s Lucky 15 blends proven performers with progressive contenders. Arisaig drops in class with a big chance, Zanthos returns to her best track, Zeus Olympios seeks to maintain his unbeaten streak, and Banderas looks well-handicapped back over hurdles. Together, the quartet form a strong multiple with plenty of upside. |
17:43 Salisbury – Evie Ross
John Pentin; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Evie Ross stamped her authority at Chepstow recently when sprinting away to land a five-furlong maiden with plenty in hand. That success came just ten days ago, yet she returns quickly under a six-pound penalty with connections clearly keen to capitalise on her current wellbeing. The rise in trip to six furlongs looks the natural step forward given her breeding and running style, and she appears well equipped to handle the extra yardage without concern.

It is also notable that her trainer has a reputation for producing sharp juveniles capable of striking early in their careers, and this filly fits that mould perfectly. The booking of Tom Marquand, who replaces riders of equally high calibre, suggests the yard are not leaving anything to chance. She may meet rivals from respected stables, but the manner of her Chepstow win indicated there is still much more to come. Another bold show is anticipated, and it would be no surprise if she proved herself above this level sooner rather than later.
18:13 Salisbury – Gunalt Wavelength
Herrin Kendrick; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Gunalt Wavelength has been steadily finding her feet after several runs, and her latest effort at Wolverhampton was a significant step forward. Beaten less than a length when stepping into a more competitive maiden, she showed determination and hinted that her moment may be approaching. Now, she tackles a mile for the first time, and on pedigree alone this increase in trip should unlock further potential. Her sire, Make Believe, was a top-class miler, and that influence often comes through in his progeny.

While a maiden still, this filly’s experience compared to some of her less exposed rivals could serve her well. She has learned her craft gradually, and that Wolverhampton performance suggested she is close to shedding her maiden tag. The switch back to turf combined with an extra furlong may play to her strengths, and her team clearly feel she is ready for this challenge. If she can reproduce her latest effort and build on it, she has every chance of putting her name on the scoresheet here.
18:53 Down Royal – Three Card Brag
Gram Dodd; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Few horses in this contest bring the same calibre of form as Three Card Brag, who has been competing in significantly tougher assignments. His two most recent starts were in the Grand National and the Galway Plate, races stacked with quality, and he shaped better than the bare form suggests on both occasions. At Aintree, he raced prominently until stamina ran out in the closing stages, while at Galway his chances were ruined early after being hampered.
Returning to hurdles in this less exacting three-mile event looks an astute move. He has previously shown ability over the smaller obstacles, including two victories as a novice and a fourth in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. The conditions of this race also work heavily in his favour, as he receives weight from the main rivals while bringing proven class. His stable have an excellent record in the contest and know how to ready one for this test. Given all that, it is easy to picture Three Card Brag showing his superiority and getting back to winning ways.
15:50 Sandown – Man Of La Mancha
Steve Harrington; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Man Of La Mancha has been somewhat frustrating for supporters, often finding circumstances going against him, but the raw ability is clearly there. Last time, his chance was compromised before the gates had even opened, as the blindfold was removed late and he lost vital ground at the start. That he still managed to finish fourth in a twelve-runner handicap speaks volumes about his engine and determination.
Importantly, his two best efforts this year have come at Sandown, indicating he is at home on this course. Handicapped in the low 80s, he looks a horse who should be operating above this level in time, but patience is needed. With a smoother passage and no mishaps at the stalls, he has the capacity to travel strongly and strike late. His connections clearly retain faith, and in a competitive field he might just prove himself the classiest performer when it matters most.
