Friday’s racing schedule offers a mixture of high-class contests and competitive handicaps, and our BettingTips4You team has narrowed the focus to four standout selections for today’s Lucky 15. These picks come from different venues and cover a variety of distances, but each has been carefully chosen for their suitability to race conditions, current form, and overall profile.
The first leg unfolds at Newbury in a nursery handicap where a progressive two-year-old steps into handicaps for the first time with confidence high after a dominant maiden win. Shortly afterwards on the same card, a maiden over a mile looks tailor-made for a colt whose debut hinted at considerable promise. In the evening, the action switches to Tramore, where a rejuvenated hurdler aims to complete a quickfire hat-trick after two convincing wins in less than a fortnight. The finale comes at Newmarket on the July Course, where a seasoned campaigner bids to enhance his superb record at this venue.
Our four experts explain below why these horses make up a compelling multiple bet for today.

Back our 392/1 Today’s Lucky 15 tips here!
Friday’s Lucky 15 | |
392/1 - odds when tipped | |
Reasoning This Lucky 15 blends progressive types with proven specialists. Sunny Smile and Be The Standard look primed to strike at Newbury, Mephisto is in red-hot form chasing a hat-trick at Tramore, and Dutch Decoy thrives at Newmarket’s July Course. Together, they form a well-balanced, high-potential multiple for Friday’s racing. |
Newbury 15:05 – Sunny Smile to Win
John Pentin; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale: Sunny Smile comes here off the back of three steadily improving runs, the highlight being a decisive front-running success over today’s trip at Hamilton. That maiden victory looks stronger given the runner-up has since run with credit in a competitive Chester handicap. Making his nursery debut off a mark of 81, he is asked to concede at least four pounds to all rivals, a reflection of the handicapper’s view of his ability.

Hugo Palmer’s skill with juvenile handicappers is well established, and the booking of Oisin Murphy signals clear intent. His proven ability to dictate the pace should serve him well in this smaller field, and if he can replicate the authority of his Hamilton effort, he has every chance of defying top weight. Given his entries in valuable autumn races, connections clearly think plenty of him.
Newbury 16:10 – Be The Standard to Win
Herrin Kendrick; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale: Be The Standard made a positive first impression when finishing third at Haydock over seven furlongs less than a month ago. Despite inexperience, he travelled fluently and kept on well, hinting there is plenty more to come once stepped up in distance. By Galiway, a sire known for producing horses who thrive over a mile and beyond, the extra furlong here looks tailor-made.dged him up by 2lb, but that seems a fair response to a run where he travelled strongly, quickened smartly, and kept on resolutely.

He is one of just two in this field with racecourse experience, which can be a telling factor in maidens where many are learning on the job. Newbury’s configuration is similar to Haydock, meaning the colt should feel at home on this sweeping track. With Hollie Doyle taking the reins and familiarity between jockey and trainer already established, the partnership should be able to use that prior run as a springboard to improvement. In a race where the newcomers may need the outing, Be The Standard has the profile to strike.
Tramore 19:49 – Mephisto to Win
Gram Dodd; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale: Mephisto has been a revelation since connections decided to stretch him beyond two and a half miles. After enduring a 19-race wait for a win over jumps, the eight-year-old has turned things around spectacularly with back-to-back victories at Wexford and Ballinrobe in the space of a week. Both wins came with something in hand, suggesting there’s more to come despite the quick turnaround. His record at trips beyond 2m4f now reads F911, underlining the positive effect of the distance change.
Shane Fitzgerald, who partnered him to both recent successes, retains the ride and knows exactly how to get the best from him. The grey’s confidence will be sky-high, and with his current form and race fitness, he looks well placed to complete the hat-trick. On a track like Tramore, where rhythm and positioning matter, his recent sharpness should give him the edge.
Newmarket 19:00 – Dutch Decoy to Win
Steve Harrington; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale: Few horses show such an affinity for a specific course as Dutch Decoy does for Newmarket’s July track. From just seven starts here, he has won five times – a remarkable strike rate for a horse who has raced extensively around Britain. Last month, he landed consecutive wins over this mile, the second achieved with a decisive turn of foot that put the race to bed in style. His subsequent runs at Goodwood can be overlooked, as the track and conditions there didn’t suit.
Trainer Charlie Johnston now brings him back to his favoured terrain, and with 80 starts under his belt, the gelding’s experience is a valuable asset in tactical races. The main market rival is an improving three-year-old, but Dutch Decoy’s proven course form and ability to quicken at the right moment make him a serious contender to add another July Course success to his record. Expect him to be delivered late for maximum effect.
