Horse Racing Accumulator Tips; Thursday September 11 – can Bearin Up, McMurray and First Principle shine at Doncaster?

The St Leger Festival begins with a programme stacked with contests full of depth, and the opening day on Town Moor presents punters with opportunities to seek value across nurseries, handicaps and maidens. We have built a three-leg horse racing accumulator focused entirely on Doncaster’s Thursday card, with each bet hand-picked by our BettingTips4You experts.

The key theme weaving the selections together is progression. All three choices are horses who are moving forward, either stepping up in trip, making their handicap debut, or showing hints that better conditions will suit. Doncaster’s long straight offers ample scope for horses that need time to wind up and hit full stride, and the softer ground expected should expose stamina and balance more than sheer speed.

Our Accumulator for September 11 includes Bearin Up, McMurray and First Principle, each tipped by one of our analysts. Below you’ll find their detailed reasoning behind why these three are worthy of support.

Reasoning
This accumulator targets three progressive horses set to improve under ideal conditions. Bearin Up gets further and softer ground, McMurray has a fair mark stepping into handicaps, and First Principle is bred to thrive over ten furlongs. Together, they form a treble blending proven progression with untapped potential at Doncaster.

1.15 Doncaster – Bearin Up

John Pentin; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
The first fillies’ nursery of the afternoon provides a perfect platform for Bearin Up to show herself in a better light than her bare form suggests. She is a daughter of Kodi Bear, whose progeny often thrive with a bit of cut, and it is notable that all three of her runs so far have come on quicker surfaces than she is likely to encounter here. Despite that, she has taken a step forward with each outing.

Her eye-catching third at Beverley over five furlongs was particularly telling. She looked outpaced when the tempo lifted but flew home late to be beaten less than a length. That showed she was crying out for extra distance. Sent back to six furlongs at Ripon next time, she again did things wrong, missing the break and racing awkwardly, but she still came home strongly into third. This 6½ furlong trip on a galloping track like Doncaster looks the perfect scenario for her.

Getting weight from all of her rivals is another advantage, and with her profile suggesting plenty of upside now she moves into handicap company, she has the potential to prove better than her initial mark. On softer ground, her pedigree, finishing efforts and racing style all come together neatly.

16:43 Doncaster – McMurray

Herrin Kendrick; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
McMurray represents the George Boughey–Billy Loughnane partnership, a team that continue to be highly effective with juveniles, particularly in nurseries. This colt by Mehmas has run three times to date and has shaped as one that is steadily learning his craft. His most recent effort at Ffos Las, when second in a maiden, was comfortably his most convincing run to date, and the handicapper has allotted him a mark of 83. That figure looks fair, particularly as he receives a few pounds from key rivals representing powerful stables.

Stepping up to a mile looks the right move. Although his breeding initially suggested speed, he shaped as though stamina would not be an issue when finishing off well in Wales last month. With a long Doncaster straight to run at, he should have time to get organised before unleashing his finishing effort.

The Boughey team are adept at placing their youngsters to strike when they are still improving, and the booking of Loughnane—who has an excellent record with the yard—is a further vote of confidence. McMurray’s profile points to more to come, and in a field where several are already more exposed, he stands out as a colt entering handicaps at the right time with conditions to suit.

15:35 Doncaster – First Principle

Gram Dodd; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
First Principle is one of the most exciting prospects running on Thursday. A son of Kingman out of Guilty Twelve, a Grade 3 winner in the United States over eleven furlongs, he brings a superb pedigree for middle-distance races. Trained by William Haggas, a man who relishes success at Doncaster, he has already won two of his three outings, finishing a narrow second on the other occasion.

This will be his first handicap appearance, and the yard’s decision to launch him straight into a competitive Class 2 is significant—it reflects the regard in which he is held. Last time out at Windsor he strolled home at short odds, barely asked a question, and it was clear there was far more in reserve. The move up to ten furlongs should only help, given the stamina influences on his dam’s side, and the long Doncaster run-in will play to his strengths.

Silvestre De Sousa takes the ride, picking up the mount due to the weight carried, and he is well able to manage that task. With the yard in solid form, conditions suiting, and an opening handicap mark that could easily underestimate his ability, First Principle looks primed to announce himself as a smart prospect.ts his lack of wins, but it also creates a golden chance for him to bounce back with ground in his favour. The Malton-trained gelding’s style of racing suits this track, where stamina is always tested late, and if the forecast rain arrives, his ability to handle soft or heavy going becomes a potent weapon. In this company, with everything lining up for him, Red Derek has his best chance in a long while to return to winning ways. Tokyo Joe an excellent chance of making his handicap debut a winning one.
