Reasoning This treble blends progressive types with course specialists. Loom drops to his favoured trip and surface, Tremolo has strong form lines and further upside, and Wasdell Dundalk returns to his favourite track with conditions in his favour. Together, they offer a smart mix of class, value and strong winning prospects.

18:15 Southwell – Loom
John Pentin; Sports Journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Loom returns to five furlongs at Southwell in what appears to be an ideal opportunity to bounce back from two recent defeats that don’t tell the full story. In both instances, the three-year-old showed promise without getting a result, though context matters: he was too keen when forced to race prominently at York and didn’t appear comfortable stepping back up to six furlongs on his most recent start.
Earlier in the season, Loom had looked much more convincing when running over this shorter distance, notably when finishing a strong second in a five-furlong handicap during the Dante meeting. He also had shaped well on seasonal debut in a warm Newmarket sprint, travelling strongly until the final furlong, which suggests there’s more to come under the right conditions.
His previous form over this trip is encouraging — including a novice win against a now 88-rated horse and a respectable showing in a Group 2 as a juvenile — while his breeding offers further confidence. His sibling delivered one of his best displays on Tapeta, which hints that the surface here at Southwell could suit him well. Off his current mark and dropped back to his preferred trip, this looks a realistic chance for Loom to finally get his head back in front.

16:05 Southwell – Tremolo
Gram Dodd; National Hunt Specialist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Tremolo returned to winning ways in style last time out at Kempton, and there’s every indication that he’s capable of going in again in this mile contest at Southwell. That victory was a significant step forward for the Harry Charlton-trained runner, especially after a couple of underwhelming efforts to start the season. What stood out was his ability to travel smoothly off a fast early pace before coming through to win decisively — something not every horse in the race could handle.
That Kempton run has been significantly boosted by the subsequent efforts of those behind him. The runner-up, Blue RC, has since landed back-to-back handicap victories, confirming the form has substance. Similarly, Leadenhall Street, who was beaten more than three lengths by Tremolo, came out and comfortably scored next time out. Even Binhareer, who had a difficult trip that day, returned to the winners’ enclosure when dropped in class.
What makes Tremolo particularly appealing here is that he’s only had a handful of starts in handicap company, so there’s every chance he still has untapped improvement to come. A 7lb rise from the handicapper may seem harsh, but considering he topped the Timeform adjusted ratings by a pound going into this, he still holds an edge. Returning to Southwell — where he signed off his juvenile season with a win — adds to the case. With momentum now in his favour, he looks poised to follow up.
15:43 Perth – Wasdell Dundalk
Herrin Kendrick; Racing Analyst at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
The staying handicap chase at Perth often rewards horses with proven course form, and Wasdell Dundalk fits the bill better than most. This ten-year-old has built a strong association with the Scottish venue, having notched four victories over this exact course and distance in recent seasons. That experience around this right-handed track is likely to be a major asset, especially in a race where stamina and tactical awareness are key.
His recent run at Perth was an encouraging effort when second to Imperial Alex, and that performance takes on more significance considering the fourth-placed finisher came out and won next time. Importantly, Wasdell Dundalk’s mark has remained untouched by the handicapper despite that strong showing, meaning he lines up today under similar conditions with no added weight to carry.
Danny McMenamin remains on board, and the pairing looked in sync last time. Given his past success at this track, Wasdell Dundalk’s familiarity with the setting could allow him to dictate the pace or track the leaders comfortably before applying pressure late on. Trainer Lisa Harrison seems to have him tuned back to form, and in a race lacking standout improvers, the veteran could well outstay them all.n in previous outings, Dodd believes this drop back to listed level provides the perfect platform for a return to winning ways.
