Barnet vs Newport County
Herrin Kendrick; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Barnet enter this EFL Cup preliminary round with confidence soaring after their promotion campaign in the National League. Dean Brennan’s men amassed 102 points last term and look primed for life back in the EFL. Their squad has been strengthened over the summer, including the loan arrival of Joe Hugill from Manchester United—expected to lead the attack.
Hugill brings height, presence, and a poacher’s instinct, which could cause serious problems for a Newport defence that looked off the pace in pre-season. The Welsh side conceded seven in two friendlies and narrowly avoided relegation from League Two last season, finishing just outside the drop zone.
Newport’s backline is still adjusting to several new signings, while Barnet have already built chemistry in attack with the likes of Kanu and Browne supporting Hugill. At home, Barnet have been efficient and organised, and this feels like a strong opportunity for the young striker to open his account.
Best bet – Joe Hugill to score anytime
Joe Hugill to score anytime
17/10 - odds when tipped
Reasoning Hugill leads Barnet’s attack and is supported by an in-form midfield. Newport struggled defensively in pre-season, and Hugill’s aerial ability and movement should expose gaps. A debut goal is a strong possibility. |
Red Star Belgrade vs Lincoln Red Imps
Gram Dodd; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Red Star left Gibraltar with a slim 1-0 lead but could and should have done more, especially given their dominance. Now back at the Rajko Mitic Stadium, they will be looking to assert full control and avoid any slip-ups. Their attacking display in the Serbian league at the weekend—crushing OFK Beograd 7-1—highlighted their finishing capability.
Even without the suspended Seol Young-woo, Red Star’s backline is well-organised, and they rarely concede at home in European qualifying rounds. Bruno Duarte remains their main attacking threat, and the Brazilian has 18 goals in 34 matches since joining the club. His blend of strength and clinical finishing is well-suited to taking apart Lincoln’s defence.
The Gibraltarian side deserve credit for limiting the damage in the first leg, but they’ve never progressed beyond this stage in the Champions League and lack the depth to cope with Red Star’s intensity away from home.
Best bet – Bruno Duarte to score first
Bruno Duarte to score first
3/1 - odds when tipped | |
Reasoning Duarte is Red Star’s primary finisher and took his goal well in the first leg. Backed by a dominant midfield and playing at home, he should get early chances against a weak Lincoln defence. |
Zrinjski Mostar vs Slovan Bratislava
Linus Bergström; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Slovan Bratislava thrashed Zrinjski 4-0 in the first leg, and while they’ve all but secured progression, Vladimir Weiss Sr. is unlikely to take his foot off the pedal. The Slovakian side scored six in their first two matches this season and will be looking to maintain momentum.
Zrinjski have a solid home record but are stepping onto the pitch with the pressure of needing an unrealistic comeback. They’ve not played a domestic fixture yet and were unable to trouble Bratislava at all in the first leg, failing to register a single shot on target. The attacking quartet of Weiss, Tolic, Barseghyan and Strelec is not only in sync but also clinical.
Weiss, in particular, has looked sharp and will aim to influence proceedings again. With Zrinjski forced to attack, Bratislava could find further opportunities on the counter.
Best bet – Both teams to score

17/20 - odds when tipped
Reasoning Zrinjski need to attack to restore pride and should create chances at home. Bratislava’s forwards will exploit the space this creates. Expect an open game with goals at both ends. |
Dynamo Kyiv vs Hamrun Spartans
Steve Harrington; Sports journalist at BettingTips4You
Rationale:
Having dismantled Hamrun Spartans 3-0 in the away leg, Dynamo Kyiv return to neutral soil in Poland knowing the tie is essentially done. Yet, coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi is expected to field a strong side to continue building rhythm ahead of their league campaign.
Nazar Voloshyn was instrumental from the bench in Malta, scoring once and assisting another, and is tipped to start this time. Dynamo dominated possession and carved open Hamrun repeatedly, and their quality in midfield and attack should shine through again here. Buyalskyi, Shaparenko and Karavaev offer stability and penetration, while the backline has conceded nothing in two games.
Hamrun, despite their historic run, are clearly outmatched. With their defence stretched and their best chance gone, Dynamo will want to add more goals. A professional performance with goals expected from different players looks likely.
Best bet – Dynamo Kyiv over 2.5 team goals
Dynamo Kyiv over 2.5 team goals
17/20 - odds when tipped
Reasoning Dynamo already beat Hamrun 3-0 away. With attacking threats across midfield and the frontline, expect them to push on and net multiple times again, particularly with Voloshyn likely to start. |
🧲 Tuesday Super Double
For our Tuesday Super Double, we’ve selected two alternative markets offering standout value. Both sides are expected to win comfortably, and the odds are appealing for a midweek punt.
- Red Star Belgrade HT/FT vs Lincoln Red Imps
- Slovan Bratislava to score in both halves vs Zrinjski Mostar
Rationale of the Double:
Red Star are expected to dominate early and hold that advantage, while Slovan’s attack should stretch Zrinjski over both halves. The double combines early pressure and second-half control—ideal for two superior sides finishing their ties with authority.
