By contrast, Sion’s away issues remain glaring. They won just three times on the road last season and leaked 32 goals in 17 matches. Their pre-season mirrored that inconsistency — a damaging 5-2 loss to Zenit was followed by a 3-0 setback against Grasshoppers before a somewhat redeeming win over Annecy.
Defensively, Didier Tholot’s men are unconvincing. With long-term injuries to Altin Shala and Theo Berdayes affecting their width and balance, and young striker Rilind Nivokazi likely leading the line, Sion may struggle to transition effectively against Zurich’s high midfield press.
It’s also worth noting Zurich’s tendency to concede against Sion — they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight league encounters with the Valais outfit. That trend, along with the hosts’ attacking additions and Sion’s inability to hold firm away from home, paints a clear picture.
