Liverpool return to action for the second time this summer as they face AC Milan in a high-profile friendly in Hong Kong — a fixture steeped in European history but now offering an early look at two clubs in transition. With both squads featuring fresh faces and adjusting to new systems, this match is ripe for goals and attacking action.
For punters looking for value in the betting markets, we’ve built a three-leg Bet Builder that focuses on Liverpool’s quality, Milan’s ability to respond, and the debut of one of Europe’s most exciting midfielders.
Here’s our Bet Builder pick for Germany Women vs Spain Women, which has been placed with William Hill:

⚽ Florian Wirtz to Find the Net
Liverpool supporters could finally see Florian Wirtz in action after the German starlet joined from Bayer Leverkusen in a blockbuster move. A creative maestro with a knack for arriving in the box at the right time, Wirtz is expected to become a central figure in Arne Slot’s new-look side.
Although he didn’t feature in the Reds’ opening friendly against Preston, Wirtz has been training with the squad and is now tipped to be handed his debut against Milan. This is the sort of fixture tailor-made for a confident midfielder to express himself. Slot’s system, favouring interchanging positions and vertical movement, suits Wirtz perfectly.
Against an AC Milan side that looked shaky against Arsenal — fielding a disjointed defence and missing several key players — Wirtz should enjoy the kind of freedom he thrives on. With no recognised striker in Milan’s line-up and their midfield still adjusting to new personnel, this could create spaces for Wirtz to exploit. A goal from the young German playmaker would surprise no one.

🔴 Liverpool to Come Out on Top
The Reds kicked off their pre-season with a solid 3-1 win over Preston, and while this upcoming clash against Milan represents a tougher test on paper, the reality suggests Liverpool remain in a stronger place.
While Milan are undergoing a rebuild under returning manager Massimiliano Allegri, the Italians looked second best for large spells in their narrow defeat to Arsenal earlier this week. The Rossoneri have endured a mass exodus of talent over the summer, with Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders already gone, and Rafael Leao rumoured to follow.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are evolving but not rebuilding. Slot has added major talent, including Frimpong, Kerkez, and Wirtz, to a title-winning core. With Alisson, Diaz, Van Dijk and Mac Allister all back with the squad, the Reds should field a strong side here. The Premier League champions also have the benefit of continuity and tactical clarity.
Given Milan’s recent results, the travel involved, and the gulf in squad cohesion, Liverpool are well positioned to notch another pre-season win on Saturday.

Liverpool v AC Milan Ultimate Bet Builder Tip | |
9/2 - odds when tipped | |
Reasoning This three-part bet draws on Liverpool’s superior squad depth and recent form, the likelihood of defensive openness in a pre-season setting, and the attacking spark of new signing Florian Wirtz. All three selections complement each other and present realistic outcomes in a friendly where goals and chances are expected. |
⚔️ Both Teams to Get on the Scoresheet
Despite their recent troubles, Milan are not toothless going forward. Rafael Leao remains a potent threat, and in friendly matches — especially early in pre-season — defensive organisation tends to take a back seat to experimentation and rhythm-building.
Liverpool, while strong in attack, are still likely to be without their first-choice goalkeeper Alisson for the full match, and defensive lapses can be expected with new arrivals like Kerkez and Frimpong still bedding in. Additionally, their backline looked stretched at times even against Preston, conceding a goal from limited opposition pressure.
Milan found the net in their penalty shootout win after the 1-0 loss to Arsenal, and with players like Loftus-Cheek and Chukwueze offering attacking flair from midfield, the Rossoneri should have enough quality to trouble Liverpool’s back four.
Add to that the usual looseness associated with summer friendlies, and it’s highly plausible both sides will find the net in Hong Kong.
