✅ Celtic to Win by 3 or More Goals
Celtic’s home dominance in recent seasons speaks for itself. Brendan Rodgers’ men ended last term by clinching a fourth straight league title, and they appear well-prepared to launch another strong campaign. Their pre-season form was solid — dispatching both Sporting Lisbon and Newcastle United without conceding a goal. Add to that a settled squad, boosted by new signings such as Benjamin Nygren, and the Bhoys are primed for another high-scoring afternoon.
Historically, St Mirren have found Celtic Park a graveyard for points. In their last 13 meetings across all competitions, the Paisley outfit have failed to register a single win, losing 11 times. When Celtic win in this fixture, they tend to win big — with four of the last five home victories in the league coming by at least a three-goal margin.
With Adam Idah leading the line and wide men like Maeda and Yang Hyun-Jun in form, this match could follow a similar trajectory. Given Celtic’s attacking strength and early-season hunger to assert control, a win by a 3+ goal margin offers a balance of probability and value. St Mirren may come in confident, but confidence alone has rarely troubled the Bhoys on their turf.

✅ Both Teams to Score
Despite Celtic’s superiority, this selection reflects St Mirren’s recent evolution under Stephen Robinson. The Saints may not have had much success against the Glasgow giants, but their recent attacking output can’t be ignored. They’ve scored in every one of their League Cup matches this summer, finishing top of their group, and remain unbeaten in competitive action this season.
Mikael Mandron and Killian Phillips have both enjoyed strong starts to 2025–26, with four goals apiece already. They’re supported by creative players like Conor McMenamin and Jonah Ayunga, and there’s a growing sense that this squad is more adventurous than in previous years.
Celtic, for all their strengths, are not immune to letting goals slip at the back — particularly when chasing goals of their own. Last season, they kept just two clean sheets in their opening six league matches. In a fast-paced opener with plenty of attacking players on both sides, a goal from the visitors is not out of the question. Even if Celtic run riot, a 4-1 or 5-1 result remains a strong possibility, keeping this selection firmly in play.

60/1 - odds when tipped | |
Reasoning This Bet Builder highlights Newcastle’s new striker Woltemade testing Barcelona’s defence, alongside two likely bookings. Burn’s physical style and Kounde’s battle with Gordon provide fertile ground for cards. With both sides highly motivated, these selections balance attacking threat with defensive pressure, making this a well-rounded betting approach. |
✅ Luke McCowan to Score Anytime
It may raise a few eyebrows, but Luke McCowan is a standout option in the goalscorer market. Having joined from Dundee after a breakout campaign, McCowan arrives at St Mirren with momentum and purpose. He notched eight league goals for the Dark Blues last season, many of them from advanced midfield roles or cutting inside from the wing — and he’s expected to slot into a similar position under Robinson.
McCowan is capable of striking from range, often gets himself into clever areas on the edge of the box, and isn’t shy of taking a shot when given space. With Celtic likely to commit numbers forward and play with a high line, there could be moments where St Mirren hit back in transition — and McCowan is the sort of player who thrives on those openings.
He’s also an asset on set-pieces, either as the taker or lurking around the second ball. If Celtic switch off on a dead-ball situation, he could easily pop up with a well-timed finish. As far as value options go in the scorer market, McCowan offers both statistical grounding and tactical justification — and it only takes one chance for this leg to land.
