Redcar 13:57

Every Race Live On Racing TV Apprentice Handicap

 Winner £4,187, 2nd £1,965, 3rd £982, 4th £491, 5th £245

 3yo+, 12 Runners

 Flat,Turf , 1m 2f 1y , GOOD TO FIRM, Good in places (Watered)

1. Ali Shuffle – 5/4 with Bet365

Represents a strong yard in fine spring form and showed plenty of natural pace on her debut, shaping as though the drop to the minimum trip may well play to her strengths. With Sam James back aboard and improvement expected, she sets a solid benchmark.

2. Bleep Test – 25/1 with Betvictor

This Tim Easterby-trained runner looked green on her first outing and lacked finishing effort. Still very early days, but she would need to take a sizeable leap forward to feature at the business end.

3. Dolly Golightly – 15/2 with Bet365

Michael Dods has a good record with juveniles, and while there was promise in her introduction, she’ll need to sharpen up her response under pressure. Potential improver, but others are preferred for win purposes.

4. Maaleezmagic – 9/2 with Unibet

Displayed a fair turn of foot on debut and kept on gamely in the latter stages. Kevin Ryan’s two-year-olds tend to progress from their first outing, and she has the physique to handle a sharp five furlongs.

5. Piccalina – 28/1 with Bet365

Looked in need of the experience when last seen and never really threatened the principals. Has scope for progression, though the early signs suggest others are more forward at this stage.

6. Lope Y Linda – 28/1 with Betvictor

Tim Easterby sends another to post here, and while she comes from a good sprinting line, the market may best guide her chances. Nothing substantial to note from her first start.

7. Muddy Nora – 25/1 with BetMGM

Seb Spencer’s filly wasn’t entirely disgraced on debut but lacked the late dash to make an impression. The step down to a sharper contest might help, but she still has plenty to prove.

8. Peggy Boo – 16/1 with Bet365

Caught the eye in the paddock prior to her debut, and while not threatening the leaders, she shaped with minor promise. Could be one for further down the line, but not entirely ruled out of a place.

9. Rotokura Belle – 40/1 with Betvictor

Didn’t offer much in the way of competitiveness in her first appearance, and needs to show something markedly different to get involved. A watching brief looks the wisest play.

10. Sucking Diesel – 2/1 with Bet365

This daughter of Sergei Prokofiev looks the type to progress sharply, and she was only narrowly denied last time in what looked a deeper race than this. She’s well drawn and will have learned plenty—big chance if she breaks smartly.

Verdict

Sucking Diesel appears to be progressing at the right time and looks primed to go one better today, especially given her tactical speed and race fitness. Ali Shuffle represents the chief threat with experience and a touch of class on her side, while Maaleezmagic appeals as the each-way option of the field with natural improvement expected. Those three are likely to settle the finish, with a slight preference for Alice Haynes’ charge to take home the prize.

Cangofar has shown minimal form in two starts but may benefit from the experience and offers potential value under David Allan.

Carlton Freddie – 150/1 (Best Odds: bet365)
A longshot in this lineup, Carlton Freddie has a lot to prove, though Joanna Mason might help him settle into a competitive position.

Moby Quick – 9/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)
Making his first appearance here, Moby Quick represents George Scott’s yard and will look to showcase potential with Callum Rodriguez aboard.

Native Irish – 6/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)
Native Irish debuts for Amy Murphy and could bring an unknown element to the race, especially with the capable Harry Davies riding.

Novelista – 5/2 (Best Odds: bet365)
After two solid performances, Novelista is shaping up as a real contender, and Billy Loughnane will be keen to lead this one to the top.

Spirit Of Jura – 8/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)
New to the track, Spirit Of Jura could show promise for the Johnston stable if he adapts well with P J McDonald handling the reins.

Verdict

Our verdict leans toward The Trickster, who could maintain his winning momentum with another confident run. Novelista is another likely challenger with reliable form and an eye on the top spot. Native Irish brings an element of the unknown but could perform well, while Anglophile might also improve and challenge for a decent finish.

With a steady profile, Recorwoman may deliver a reliable effort under Elle-May Croot, aiming to secure a place in the finish.

Yet to make an impression, Aughnagomaun faces a tough field but could show some improvement with Jack Mitchell.

Experience is on Visitant’s side, and Aiden Brookes may help this veteran produce a respectable run in familiar company.

Going To The Moon – 20/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)
Though unpredictable, Going To The Moon can surprise with James Sullivan in control, especially if he finds his best form.

Lady Phoebe – 9/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)
Consistent but lacking a win, Lady Phoebe has shown ability and may challenge for a place with Joanna Mason.

Gemini Man – 10/1 (Best Odds: bet365)
A modest record thus far, but Gemini Man has potential to improve here, particularly with David Allan.

Laughing Lord – 40/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)
Although a longshot, Laughing Lord may show improvement under Jason Hart, aiming to make a mark on his third run.

Verdict

Fast Fred stands out for his reliable form and looks ready to lead the field. Two B Tanned is also a strong contender, with recent efforts suggesting he could be in the mix. Lady Phoebe offers value and may find herself in contention, while Woof has shown promise and could be in with a chance of a good finish.

Making his second start, Tazima could show improvement with Callum Rodriguez as he aims to place in the top rankings.

Haafapenny – 40/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Lasting Love has come close to winning recently and is likely to be a major contender under P J McDonald, aiming to finally clinch victory.
