1. Gers Gigi – 20/1 at Bet365

Showed some promise when picking up a novice success last year, but form tailed off in better company. Carries the joint top weight here and might find this a stiff challenge against classier rivals.

2. Jane Eire – 7/2 at Betvictor

Scored at Cork before finding herself outclassed twice in stronger races. Still unexposed and could take a step forward, but she’ll need to improve again to make her presence felt in this field.

3. Maughreen – 10/11 at Unibet

Flashed potential when landing her debut and remains lightly raced. Wasn’t disgraced at Cheltenham and returned with an encouraging effort over shorter. Likely to be better suited by this intermediate trip and should go close under Townend.

4. Royal Eagle – 15/8 at Bet365

Twice placed in Listed company and gave a good account on her seasonal return. Carries the lightest weight here and has the form edge. If ready to build on her comeback, she’ll be tough to peg back.

Verdict

This race presents a compelling clash between Maughreen’s untapped promise and Royal Eagle’s established credentials. The latter has the benefit of race fitness and receives weight from all rivals, which could be crucial around this tight circuit. Jane Eire is worth monitoring for each-way purposes if improvement is forthcoming, while Gers Gigi may find this a bit much at these terms.

1. Glorytogod Tom – 16/1 at Unibet

Yet to win a race and struggled for form last season. Carries top weight here and would need to deliver a career best to trouble the principals.

2. River Vale – 6/1 at Betvictor

Lightly raced and showed a glimmer of ability when second in a similar contest last season. Market support would be encouraging off this mark.

3. Knockbrack Rambler – 7/1 at Bet365

Won well last autumn but hasn’t followed it up since. Return to form not ruled out but needs to show more than recent efforts suggest.

4. A Nod To Getaway – 5/1 at Unibet

Twice placed in recent outings and seems to be on an upward trajectory. Consistent type who looks well treated to finally get his head in front.

5. Aboy Joey – 20/1 at Betvictor

Not seen to best effect recently and seems out of sorts. Faces a stiff task unless rediscovering spark shown in earlier handicaps.

6. Vintage Gold – 8/1 at Bet365

Finished well in patches last season and shaped okay last time. Could play a role here if he travels into the race smoothly.

7. Mellem – 5/1 at Bet365

Ran a blinder last time and clearly enjoys a test of stamina. Still well handicapped on old form and enters calculations again.

8. The Mass Path – 16/1 at Unibet

Little to show in recent appearances but lightly raced over hurdles. May improve for the outing, but needs to prove his worth in a race of this nature.

9. Anysignofhim – 33/1 at Betvictor

Out of form for a while now and tough to recommend. Will need a total turnaround to be involved.

10. Bal Kauto – 8/1 at Bet365

A fair performer at his best and retains ability. If back to near his peak, he could outrun his odds under a strong ride.

11. Olord – 11/2 at Betvictor

Showed renewed spark on latest start and looks poised to go one better. Strong claims if repeating that effort off a low weight.

12. Handy Manny – 100/1 at Unibet

Form figures do little to inspire and recent outings suggest he may be best watched for now.

13. Party Pack – 20/1 at Bet365

Fell when still in contention previously and unseated after. Risky proposition, but not without raw talent if putting it all together.

14. Mister Persistence – 50/1 at Betvictor

Totally out of sorts in recent months. Big leap of faith needed to consider him competitive today.

15. Toor Moon – 10/1 at Bet365

Unplaced since returning but ran with more purpose last time. Could be on the verge of a revival and one to keep on side for place money.

16. Lariat – 16/1 at Unibet

Put in a few solid displays last term without getting his head in front. Handicapper has given him a chance and he may have a say late on.

17. Ardfert Mary – 17/2 at Bet365

Not far off in similar races and this mare often gives her all. Has the form to make the frame once again.

18. Lauro Lady – 33/1 at Betvictor

Plenty to find on all known form. Will need a dramatic improvement to feature prominently.

R19. Mattie’s Mountain – 6/1 at Bet365 (RESERVE)

Caught the eye last time when running on late. Could make an impact if getting a run.

R20. Dylan’s Chance – [NR] (RESERVE – NON-RUNNER)

Verdict

In a wide-open contest, Mellem looks to be peaking at just the right time and is fancied to go one better after a strong recent effort. Olord also showed plenty of promise when runner-up last time and should be a major player. A Nod To Getaway deserves respect too for his string of consistent finishes.

1. Ask Phil – 66/1 at Bet365

Beaten a long way on both outings so far and has yet to show competitive form. Easy to oppose in a contest of this calibre.

2. Ballinaboola Jet – 66/1 at Betvictor

Unseated on debut and showed little on reappearance. Difficult to support on what we’ve seen so far.

3. Ballyharney – 12/1 at Unibet

Displayed promise in his only run to date, finishing third. May progress now up in trip and worth a second glance at double-figure odds.

4. Corbally Cross – 50/1 at Bet365

Point-to-point winner who has yet to transfer that success under Rules. Best watched unless market support emerges.

5. Fancy A Tipple – 66/1 at Betvictor

Offered little on debut and will need a massive improvement to get involved here. Unlikely contender.

6. Gaoithe Glory – 17/2 at Unibet

Some encouraging performances last term and shaped well enough on return. The step up in trip could bring more, and he may offer value.

7. Golden Reel – 66/1 at Bet365

No real signs of life in recent runs and difficult to recommend. Form figures tell the story—up against it.

8. Kara Sacre – 2/1 at Betvictor

Won a point and placed in both maiden hurdles. Looks to be crying out for this trip and has every chance to make the breakthrough here.

9. Political Stance – 14/1 at Bet365

Didn’t show much on debut but should come on for the run. Stable is shrewd, and improvement wouldn’t be a shock.

10. Qaasid – 10/1 at Betvictor

Well-beaten on reappearance but was a capable flat performer. Might find conditions more suitable here and has the back class to figure.

11. Reiki Revolution – 5/1 at Unibet

Put in a solid effort when fourth recently and seems to be improving with experience. One to take seriously in an open race.

12. Rhythmic Tune – 100/1 at Bet365

Never landed a blow on debut and little to suggest major improvement. Big outsider.

13. Simple Old Game – 50/1 at Unibet

Poor form across the board and hard to see him making an impression here. Needs to find plenty.

14. Sticktotheplan – 7/2 at Bet365

Came close last time and seems to be knocking on the door. Has experience and consistency on his side, and a bold showing looks likely.

15. Tinking Man – 66/1 at Betvictor

Has placed in lower-grade contests but would be a surprise winner at this level. Looks up against it in a deeper field.

16. Pistocchi – 25/1 at Bet365

Beaten out of sight on debut and may need more time to develop. Others are more persuasive.

17. Seeitoldya – 11/2 at Betvictor

Smart bumper winner who was a bit keen on hurdling return. Capable of better and shouldn’t be dismissed if he relaxes early.

Verdict

Sticktotheplan looked unlucky not to win last time and brings solid recent form to the table, making him a strong choice. Kara Sacre remains a major player with scope for improvement now up in distance, while Reiki Revolution is a lively danger if taking another step forward. Seeitoldya has potential to improve too, but needs to settle better.

1. Ballinoe Blaze – 12/1 at Bet365

Has hinted at a revival and wasn’t disgraced on return. If building on that effort, he could be one for the minor places.

2. Cregane Ned – 16/1 at Unibet

Missed plenty of time before reappearing with a tame effort. Will need to improve significantly to be involved.

3. Kilfera – 14/1 at Betvictor

Didn’t make much of an impact in recent starts but is capable of better on his day. Not entirely dismissed at this level.

4. Love Like This – 12/1 at Bet365

Had shown some form last season, but latest runs have been underwhelming. Still lightly raced and a dark horse if bouncing back.

5. Tackletommywoowoo – 14/1 at Betvictor

Hard to catch right and recent performances have left much to be desired. Others appeal more strongly for win purposes.

6. Foxy Rock – 10/1 at Bet365

Pulled up on last start but hinted at ability before that. Market could guide if improvement is expected now wearing blinkers.

7. Alright Darling – 14/1 at Unibet

Struggled to get involved in most recent runs but might enjoy the longer trip. Could surprise if finding rhythm mid-race.

8. Fill The Tank – 12/1 at Betvictor

Has dropped down the weights and might be dangerously well treated if returning to previous form. One to monitor closely.

9. Dunany Point – 13/2 at Bet365

Ran a blinder to finish second recently and comes here in good heart. No surprise if he’s right in the thick of it once again.

10. Jekiki – 12/1 at Betvictor

Needs to find more off this mark but has run respectably of late. Could play a role with a patient ride.

11. Lough Nigara – 10/1 at Bet365

Returned from a long absence with a fair showing and should strip fitter. Potential improver for an underrated stable.

12. Inchidaly Copper – 7/2 at Unibet

On a serious roll with three wins from last four and arrives in top form. A further rise in class and weight, but clearly thriving.

13. Sir Carnegie – 16/1 at Bet365

Consistent if unspectacular; tends to find one or two too good. Each-way claims if the race falls apart.

14. Barryroe Madam – 15/2 at Betvictor

Would be dangerous if judged on earlier efforts and wasn’t far off before unseating last time. Capable if completing cleanly.

15. Three Tribes – 25/1 at Bet365

Hard to recommend based on recent showings. Would need a transformation in form to get near the leaders.

16. Better Than Heaven – 25/1 at Unibet

Long absence before a disappointing return. Looks up against it on current evidence.

17. Max Time – 20/1 at Betvictor

Needs to improve plenty on what he’s shown recently. Faces a stiff test off this mark.

18. Rewrite The Script – 33/1 at Bet365

Form has dipped badly and hard to see him turning things around in a race of this depth.

Verdict

Inchidaly Copper looks the one they all have to beat, arriving in red-hot form and proven over the trip. Dunany Point brings reliable recent efforts and must be respected, while Lough Nigara could be the each-way surprise if improving from his comeback run.
