1. Aleish Lass – Best Odds: 8/1 – bet365

Returned to action after a break, this mare was previously a winner at the track. Michael Winters’ charge is dangerous if she finds rhythm early, and with Mr L Burke-Ott claiming 7lb, she could make her presence felt at a fair price.

2. Miners Bridge – Best Odds: 12/1 – Unibet

S Curling’s 8yo was largely reliable last term and has already shown winning form. With Phillip Enright back aboard, he’s capable of going well if he reproduces his earlier chasing efforts. One to monitor for value backers.

3. Midnight Eagle – Best Odds: 10/1 – BetVictor

Was a course winner in the spring before pulling up next time. Aengus King’s 5yo has something to prove but has shown flashes of talent and could bounce back if things fall his way from the front.

4. Get It Right – Best Odds: 10/1 – BetMGM

Displayed signs of life with a decent third in his latest outing. Sean Aherne’s runner seems to appreciate a test of stamina, and Sean O’Keeffe is a capable partner. Not out of the equation if building on that effort.

5. Smallcraftwarning – Best Odds: 14/1 – bet365

Rarely puts two good runs together and was well held last time out. Daniel King takes over again, and the application of a tongue tie may help. He’s difficult to trust but can outrun his odds on a going day.

6. Crowsatedappletart – Best Odds: 4/1 – BetVictor

Arrives in solid form, having landed a win and followed it with consistent efforts. Michael Winters’ gelding is suited by this track, and Darragh O’Keeffe stays loyal. Top contender on recent performances.

7. Baltinglass Hill – Best Odds: 25/1 – Unibet

Failed to complete twice last season and showed little when completing. Needs to rekindle former form, though blinkers return and Dylan Robinson might aim to galvanise a revival. Would be a surprise winner.

8. Mister Persistence – Best Odds: 33/1 – BetMGM

Hard to make a case based on recent runs. Sean O O’Brien’s 5yo has yet to make an impact under rules. Others have much stronger claims, even in this modest handicap.

9. Rock On Pedro – Best Odds: 5/1 – bet365

Eoin Doyle’s gelding has shown flashes of potential, often shaping better than the result. J J Slevin returns to ride, and if he avoids early errors, this one can make a bold bid. Respected based on consistency.

10. Glentruan – Best Odds: 7/1 – Unibet

Had a string of modest efforts before finishing off with an improved fifth. Michael Flannery’s runner could enjoy the extended trip, and Jordan Gainford rides with confidence. May sneak into the frame.

11. Be My Hero – Best Odds: 8/1 – BetVictor

Represents the Gordon Elliott team but hasn’t offered much encouragement in his latest appearances. Danny Gilligan takes over and claims 5lb. Would need a complete turnaround to threaten here.

12. Added Bonus – Best Odds: 14/1 – bet365

Yet to land a blow in recent runs, but didn’t run terribly when mid-division last time out. Sam Ewing is an interesting booking, and if cheekpieces work again, a place isn’t out of reach.

13. Dontdooddson – Best Odds: 33/1 – BetMGM

Veteran with just one placing in recent memory. Darren Collins continues to train him with patience, and Philip Donovan takes 3lb off. Hard to see him featuring unless there’s a pace collapse.

14. The Eye Of Tulla – Best Odds: 28/1 – Unibet

Course and distance form offers a glimmer of hope, though recent efforts have been unconvincing. Brian McMahon reaches for blinkers again. Needs a career-best to land a blow.

15. Ardad Derek – Best Odds: 33/1 – BetVictor

Out of sorts and pulled up on penultimate start. Hard to make a case for John Joseph Hanlon’s 6yo unless something clicks suddenly. Gavin Brouder rides.

16. Surviving Murmansk – Best Odds: 20/1 – bet365

Showed a little spark when fourth two starts ago but lacks consistency. Simon Torrens rides again, and there may be a bit of improvement to come if conditions suit. Risky but not impossible.

Verdict

Crowsatedappletart has been running consistently well in recent weeks and looks primed for another bold effort at a track he enjoys. Rock On Pedro represents a stable in form and should give a solid account again. Lucky Bounce and Get It Right could play supporting roles in a wide-open contest.

1. A Law Of Her Own – Best Odds: 7/2 – BetMGM

Peter Fahey’s mare scored impressively last autumn but has since failed to repeat that form, finishing down the field on her final start. The visor remains, and Sean O’Keeffe is back aboard. She’s capable of a revival, but will need to rediscover that spark to trouble the leading pair.

2. Je T’Ai Porte – Best Odds: 9/4 – Unibet

Gavin Cromwell’s 7-year-old mare has mixed chasing form but tends to run well in this company. She caught the eye two starts ago with a strong third and gets the hood reapplied today. Keith Donoghue takes over, and if she gets into a rhythm, she can push the favourite all the way.

3. Look To The West – Best Odds: 10/11 – bet365

Lightly raced and full of potential, this Henry de Bromhead mare looked a smart prospect when landing her most recent start. With Darragh O’Keeffe keeping the ride and plenty more improvement expected, she sets the standard and is the one to beat.

4. Justabitofyours – Best Odds: 25/1 – BetVictor

Paul John Gilligan’s representative is yet to make a serious impression in similar events, though her fourth-place effort last time wasn’t without merit. Jack G Gilligan claims 5lb again, but a big leap forward is needed to get involved here.

Verdict

Look To The West impressed with her jumping and stamina when last seen, and she looks a mare with a bright future in this sphere. Je T’Ai Porte has experience on her side and should be the one to put pressure on the favourite if she finds her best stride. A Law Of Her Own has the ability but needs to bounce back to make an impact.

1. Ambitious Fellow – Best Odds: 10/1 – BetMGM

Peter Fahey’s veteran didn’t shine over hurdles during the winter, with several pulled-up efforts blighting his form. Now tried over fences and sporting cheekpieces again, he could fare better if finding rhythm under Jake Coen’s guidance. Capable of improvement, but carries a few risks.

2. Encanto Bruno – Best Odds: 5/2 – Unibet

Gavin Cromwell’s gelding shaped with promise when runner-up last time out, bouncing back from a pair of pulled-up runs. Keith Donoghue retains the ride, and the return to a sounder surface could be in his favour. Solid chance if building on latest effort.

3. Intellotto – Best Odds: 7/4 – bet365

This lightly raced type caught the eye when placing on return after a layoff, and with Joseph O’Brien training and J J Slevin booked, he’s bound to attract support. Showed potential as a novice hurdler and has the profile to improve over fences.

4. Jigoro – Best Odds: 9/4 – BetVictor

Gordon Elliott’s charge has twice hit the frame in maiden company and looks ready for this switch to chasing. Sam Ewing gets the leg up again, and the horse’s hurdling form gives every indication he’ll adapt well to this new discipline. One for the shortlist.

5. Minella Sergeant – Best Odds: 25/1 – Unibet

Hasn’t made much of an impression over timber, and Paul John Gilligan’s gelding makes his chasing debut after a quiet season. With Jack Gilligan claiming 5lb, he could find his level eventually, but this might be a bit sharp first time out.

6. Star In The Park – Best Odds: 33/1 – BetMGM

Offered very little in his handful of runs to date and looks out of his depth in this lineup. Gavin Brouder will try to extract improvement, but others bring far stronger claims. Needs a major turnaround to compete here.

Verdict

Intellotto looks like a chaser in the making and should come forward plenty for his reappearance effort. Jigoro has consistent form in the book and could pose the main threat if he adapts smoothly to fences. Encanto Bruno shouldn’t be overlooked either, especially if he repeats his latest display.

1. I A Connect – Best Odds: 22/1 – BetVictor

Recent efforts have offered little encouragement, and the form figures don’t inspire confidence. Miss Evanna McCutcheon’s 10-year-old looks up against it despite carrying top weight. Would need a major revival to be competitive.

2. Clonshire River – Best Odds: 14/1 – BetMGM

Finished last season with several unplaced runs after previously hitting the frame. Now drops in the weights and has the assistance of Kieren Buckley, which could help. If he rediscovers early-season form, he might sneak into the placings.

3. Ahead Of The Posse – Best Odds: 4/1 – Unibet

Gavin Cromwell’s charge hasn’t managed to string consistent runs together, though his best effort came off a similar mark. Keith Donoghue is a strong jockey booking, and if he puts it all together, he could be right in the mix.

4. Garde La Peche – Best Odds: 9/4 – bet365

Henry de Bromhead’s mare has been gradually improving, and her second-placed finish a few starts back caught the eye. Darragh O’Keeffe knows her well, and she’s likely to go close if she reproduces her best effort.

5. West Clare – Best Odds: 4/1 – BetMGM

Arrives here off the back of a confidence-boosting win and remains unexposed over fences. Phillip Enright keeps the ride, and there could still be some progress left in him off a relatively low rating. Not to be dismissed lightly.

6. Carlas Big Jim – Best Odds: 14/1 – Unibet

Ran with credit a few times last season but disappointed more recently. Daniel King’s claim will help ease the burden, and the trip suits, but he needs to leave his last effort well behind if he’s to feature.

7. Gustavo Goodway – Best Odds: 7/2 – bet365

Finally broke his maiden tag when winning at Down Royal, and that victory may have unlocked some improvement. P J Rothwell’s gelding returns to chasing here and gets in off a workable mark. Tiernan Power Roche’s 5lb claim only strengthens his case.

8. U Asking Me – Best Odds: 10/1 – BetVictor

A winner earlier in the season but has struggled to back that up since. Shane O’Callaghan takes off 5lb, and a return to this distance could help. He’s not without a chance if bouncing back to that earlier form.

Verdict

Gustavo Goodway looks well-handicapped after his Down Royal win and could be poised to follow up now switched back to fences. Garde La Peche is the solid option and should be thereabouts if running to recent form, while West Clare remains interesting given his upward trajectory and latest success.

1. Aspurofthemoment – Best Odds: 9/4 – bet365

Gavin Cromwell’s charge completed a hat-trick over hurdles to end last season in style and now makes his chasing debut. With Keith Donoghue taking the reins, expectations are high that he’ll make a seamless transition to fences. Stamina looks assured, and he rates a key contender.

2. Boston Rover – Best Odds: 12/1 – BetVictor

Showed promise in several efforts over hurdles without getting his head in front. Gordon Elliott steps him up in trip for this first go over fences. With Sam Ewing aboard, he could be interesting if adapting quickly to this new test.

3. Iceberg Theory – Best Odds: 5/2 – BetMGM

Paul Nolan’s runner found just one too good in a similar contest last time and now returns with cheekpieces retained. Conor Stone-Walsh claims 3lb and the step up in trip looks a positive move. If he jumps with fluency, he has every chance.

4. Mister Beeton – Best Odds: 9/1 – Unibet

Rarely far away without threatening to win, Shane Nolan’s gelding holds each-way potential. Shane Fitzgerald is booked again, and his previous experience at this sort of trip could come into play late on. Worth considering for the places.

5. Work Place – Best Odds: 33/1 – BetVictor

Never really fired last campaign and now tries fences without strong credentials. Liam Quinlan takes off a useful 3lb, but a major step forward is required to make an impact against classier opposition.

6. Born Bright – Best Odds: 10/1 – Unibet

Did manage a hurdles win, but hasn’t shown much since and was well beaten on reappearance. Claire O’Connell’s mare now tackles fences in search of a return to form, but she’s hard to fancy without clear signs of resurgence.

7. Cobra Queen – Best Odds: 8/1 – BetMGM

Had her moments over timber and is now sent chasing by the ever-shrewd Henry de Bromhead. Mike O’Connor claims 5lb and her past form suggests she might stay this trip well. Could surprise a few if jumping improves.

8. Grooveykindoflove – Best Odds: 9/2 – bet365

Another from the De Bromhead team, this mare finished last season with promise and has scope to improve further. Darragh O’Keeffe is a notable booking, and if she handles fences at first time of asking, she could pose a serious threat.

Verdict

Aspurofthemoment boasts the strongest recent profile and looks set to thrive now sent chasing. Iceberg Theory pushed a solid type last time and can’t be ignored if repeating that effort. Grooveykindoflove may emerge from the shadows to cause a stir, especially with a sharp round of jumping.

1. Cloughroe – Best Odds: 4/1 – bet365

Produced a career-best when just denied last time and now returns off the same mark. Paul John Gilligan’s gelding looks to be in peak form, and with Jack Gilligan claiming 5lb, he’s likely to go close again. Very solid profile at this level.

2. Person Of Interest – Best Odds: 9/2 – BetMGM

Consistent without winning, he’s been knocking on the door with a string of decent efforts. The addition of cheekpieces has helped sharpen him up, and Paddy Hanlon’s claim makes him competitive again. Needs to settle early to deliver late.

3. Island McCoo – Best Odds: 11/1 – Unibet

Landed a modest event two starts back and then ran creditably under a penalty. Darren Collins’ charge returns from a break and may need this for fitness, though Philip Donovan’s 3lb claim offers some appeal from a handicapping perspective.

4. Meehall – Best Odds: 14/1 – BetVictor

Posted a couple of wins last year before losing his way. If able to return to the form shown when scoring at Galway, he would be very dangerous off this mark. Could be an outsider to keep an eye on if the ground suits.

5. Ixigreczed – Best Odds: 14/1 – BetMGM

Has yet to fully deliver over fences, but there’s been the odd hint that a breakthrough could come. Gavin Brouder retains the ride, and a more prominent position early might help his chances of staying involved.

6. Stellar Symphony – Best Odds: 10/1 – bet365

Rolled back the clock with a good second last time and could be peaking again after a quiet spell. Terence O’Brien has found an ideal opportunity and John Shinnick claims 3lb. A repeat of his last run puts him in the picture.

7. Tullyhogue Fort – Best Odds: 25/1 – Unibet

Struggled for consistency and makes limited appeal on recent efforts. John F O’Neill applies blinkers again in the hope of finding improvement, but others have more convincing profiles.

8. Nazine – Best Odds: 20/1 – BetVictor

Has shown very little since returning from a long absence. Cian Quirke takes 3lb off, but the gelding has yet to show he stays this far and is best watched until signs of revival appear.

9. Zolpharine – Best Odds: 14/1 – bet365

Hasn’t had many races over fences and shaped with a little promise last time. Sean O’Keeffe gets back aboard, and with more experience under his belt, he could be one for the shortlist at a price.

10. Tippin And Tappin – Best Odds: 14/1 – Unibet

Got his head in front when everything went right last time out and could follow up if confidence remains high. Darragh O’Keeffe sticks with him, but a 6lb rise means this won’t be easy.

11. Bondi Boy Blue – Best Odds: 16/1 – BetMGM

Danny Mullins gets the leg up on this runner who has shown glimpses of ability without getting fully involved. Wouldn’t be a huge shock if he crept into the frame, but others have more convincing claims.

12. Kadys Dirha – Best Odds: 12/1 – BetVictor

Has had a frustrating profile with numerous jumping errors, but has been dropped in the weights. With a clean round, he could surprise, and Andrew Burke-Ott’s claim might help him get competitive.

13. Arthor – Best Odds: 8/1 – bet365

Found little after looking promising in earlier efforts. Has a win to his name but didn’t build on that. Mike O’Connor claims 5lb, and if he finds his rhythm, he could sneak a place.

14. God Help Us – Best Odds: 50/1 – Unibet

Offered next to nothing in recent starts and now races from out of the handicap. Simon Torrens rides, but hopes rest on a major turnaround.

15. Great Rainbow – Best Odds: 14/1 – BetMGM

Has had plenty of chances without taking them and tends to find one or two too good. Phillip Enright remains faithful, but it’s difficult to be confident of a breakthrough.

16. Kalnoo – Best Odds: 12/1 – bet365

Often runs well without winning and could appreciate this return to a slightly longer trip. Tiernan Power Roche continues his partnership, and he looks a genuine each-way contender in a big field.

Verdict

Cloughroe has been knocking loudly on the door and may finally break through in this competitive handicap. Person Of Interest is feared most with solid recent form and a handy claim, while Stellar Symphony could be peaking again at just the right time.

1. Sam Magee – Best Odds: 6/1 – BetMGM

A multiple-time scorer last season, this Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding ended the year with a mixed bag of results. Ethan O’Sullivan takes 7lb off, which gives him a fighting chance if able to replicate his stronger form over this stamina-testing distance.

2. Antrim Coast – Best Odds: 5/2 – bet365

Gavin Cromwell’s representative has been consistent without striking gold in recent starts. Back up in distance here, and with Keith Donoghue aboard, he’s likely to appreciate the staying test. Looks a major player if jumping holds up.

3. The Gradual Slope – Best Odds: 11/2 – Unibet

A strong finisher who often stays on late, though he’s not found winning easy. Sean O O’Brien’s 8-year-old gets Mark McDonagh in the saddle and the longer trip is likely to suit. Could sneak a place if produced late.

4. Ceroc – Best Odds: 14/1 – BetVictor

Form has tailed off recently after a few promising placed efforts. Phillip Enright keeps the ride, and blinkers go on again. Needs to bounce back in a big way but not totally discounted in an open race.

5. Friends N Commerce – Best Odds: 7/1 – bet365

Returned from a long absence with a tame effort but retains potential from previous placed form. Philip Donovan claims 3lb, and with a run under the belt, he might strip fitter here. Worth keeping in mind as an each-way possibility.

6. Fairyhill Run – Best Odds: 14/1 – BetMGM

Hasn’t recaptured the spark of past victories and remains a bit of a puzzle now aged 10. Daniel King takes off 5lb, but this looks a tough ask unless rediscovering his old rhythm.

7. Priory Park – Best Odds: 8/1 – BetVictor

Struggled through a rough patch last season but hinted at life again on seasonal return. Now dropped significantly in the weights and partnered with Darragh O’Keeffe, he could surprise if finding previous zest.

8. Emily In Paris – Best Odds: 9/4 – Unibet

Frequently in the frame without managing to get her head in front. D E Fitzgerald’s mare continues to knock on the door and may appreciate the marathon trip. Gavin Brouder’s claim helps, and she deserves another shot at breaking her duck.

Verdict

Antrim Coast looks well primed for a big run with ideal conditions and a proven jockey on board. Emily In Paris continues to be thereabouts and is likely to play a leading role again, especially if she settles early. The Gradual Slope has a sneaky each-way appeal if things fall into place.
