William Hill NRMB On The Grand National Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap

  •  4yo+, 22 Runners
  •  Flat,Turf , 1m , GOOD TO SOFT, Soft in places on Round course (GoingStick 6.1) (Rail movements: 2.30 & 4.15 +12yds)
  •  Winner £5,960, 2nd £2,982, 3rd £1,489, 4th £746, 5th £372

1. Al Mudhaffar – Best Odds: 14/1 – BetMGM

Patchy form last season but there were glimpses of potential. A drop in class could help spark improvement, though consistency has been lacking. A wildcard worth monitoring.

2. Hartswood – Best Odds: 8/1 – Unibet

Has struck a rich patch recently and arrives here on the back of two wins in his last three starts. With form on his side and a decent draw, he could be poised for another big run.

3. Warning Sign – Best Odds: 7/1 – bet365

Five consecutive runner-up finishes underline his consistency, but he’s been unable to get his head in front. He’ll be popular with punters again, but needs that extra finishing kick.

4. Poet’s Dawn – Best Odds: 33/1 – Betvictor

Veteran performer whose recent efforts don’t inspire confidence. Has the odd good run in him, but hard to fancy based on current form.

5. Yeoman – Best Odds: 10/1 – bet365

Often shows up well but tends to flatten out late. His honest style earns respect, and he’s capable of picking up a place if the race sets up right.

6. Angel Of England – Best Odds: 12/1 – Betvictor

Yet to make a proper impact this term but has hinted at ability. Could improve under this experienced amateur, though risks remain.

7. Love Your Work – Best Odds: 22/1 – bet365

Showed improvement two starts ago but then regressed sharply. Needs a big turnaround and probably best watched on this occasion.

8. Serenity Dream – Best Odds: 10/1 – Unibet

Solid third earlier this month and not beaten far since. Richard Fahey’s charge is a steady sort and deserves a look in a race like this.

9. Law Supreme – Best Odds: 30/1 – BetMGM

Form has tailed off in recent months and hasn’t offered much to get excited about. Big odds reflect his chances fairly.

10. Havana Prince – Best Odds: 11/1 – bet365

Last season’s winner returning from a short break. A bold effort wouldn’t surprise if fit enough, though others look stronger on recent form.

11. Calanthe – Best Odds: 8/1 – Betvictor

Consistent filly who’s run well in defeat of late. Archie Watson’s runner is knocking at the door and a breakthrough may come soon.

12. Crownthorpe – Best Odds: 33/1 – Unibet

Has slipped a long way down the weights but performances haven’t responded to that. Needs a complete form reversal to feature.

13. Petra Celera – Best Odds: 25/1 – bet365

Flashed a touch of ability recently but overall profile lacks depth. Would be a surprise winner, though has place claims if things fall her way.

14. Cathedral Peak – Best Odds: 10/1 – Betvictor

Lightly raced and shaping as one still learning the game. Could take a step forward here, and a bold effort wouldn’t be a shock.

15. Liberated Lad – Best Odds: 33/1 – BetMGM

Ran a shocker last time after earlier promise. Difficult to support until signs of revival appear.

16. Amaysmont – Best Odds: 12/1 – bet365

Has come close the last twice and seems to have found a consistent rhythm. Another solid showing looks likely and rates as a danger.

17. Zous Juice – Best Odds: 22/1 – Unibet

Yet to win and form offers little encouragement. Hard to recommend in a field this large and competitive.

18. Absolutely Buzzing – Best Odds: 28/1 – BetMGM

Scored earlier in the season but form has dipped sharply since. Needs to rediscover his spark to figure.

19. Addosh – Best Odds: 16/1 – bet365

Best known for her work over hurdles, but has a decent level of Flat form. Capable of outrunning her odds if things unfold her way.

20. Al Suil Eile – Best Odds: 20/1 – Betvictor

Reliable sort who won recently but couldn’t follow up. This is a deeper contest and will need to dig deep to repeat that success.

21. Rising Force – Best Odds: 14/1 – Unibet

Rarely runs a bad race and seems to respond well to pressure. A lively outsider with potential to sneak a place.

22. Mr Jetman – Best Odds: 16/1 – bet365

Recent efforts suggest he’s beginning to settle into his racing. Still has more to prove but not completely ruled out.

Verdict

Calanthe gets the nod after a string of consistent displays that suggest a win is within reach. Warning Sign has a strong profile but remains frustratingly winless, while Amaysmont arrives in steady form and can run well again. At a bigger price, Rising Force has shown enough to suggest he could get involved in the finish.

Livescore Bet Best Odds Daily Novices’ Handicap Chase (GBB Race)

  •  5yo+, 4 Runners
  •  Jumps,Turf , 2m 78y , Hurdle course – GOOD TO SOFT, Good in places; Chase course – GOOD, Good to soft in places (GoingStick: Chase 6.1, Hurdle 5.8)
  •  Winner £6,337, 2nd £2,916, 3rd £1,458, 4th £730, 5th £364

1. Modern Utopia – Best Odds: 11/4 – bet365

Finished last campaign on a high with back-to-back wins, and George Scott’s colt looks open to further progress. Carries top weight, but the manner of his victories suggests there’s more under the bonnet. Major player if ready after a break.

2. Pantile Warrior – Best Odds: 11/4 – Betvictor

Finally got off the mark after a series of near-misses and did so with a bit to spare. The Gosden team have him on the right track, and from stall 1, he should be prominent throughout. Very much one to consider in this line-up.

3. Chartwell Jock – Best Odds: 7/2 – Unibet

Didn’t take long to shed his maiden tag and is bred to stay this trip well. With Oisin Murphy booked, confidence will be high, and the Balding yard tends to get them spot-on at this time of year. Dangerous if improving again.

4. Mersea Island – Best Odds: 10/1 – bet365

Still a maiden but bumped into some nice sorts in previous runs and looks the type to benefit from this step up in distance. Joe Fanning is a positive booking, and she shouldn’t be ignored from a handy mark.

5. Many Men – Best Odds: 9/2 – BetMGM

Progressed nicely at the back end of last term and took a decent handicap on his final outing. Carries a penalty now but should have more to offer and may still be a step ahead of the assessor.

6. Maywedance – Best Odds: 20/1 – Betvictor

Didn’t quite put it all together during his juvenile campaign but has shown flashes of potential. Hollie Doyle’s booking catches the eye, and if he’s matured over the winter, he might outrun his odds in what looks an open contest.

Verdict

Pantile Warrior gets the slight preference in a tightly matched field after finally breaking his duck in impressive fashion. That win suggested there’s plenty more to come, and with stall 1 and Kieran Shoemark up, he could dictate terms. Chartwell Jock is open to further development and shouldn’t be underestimated, while Mersea Island could be the each-way angle stepping up in trip. Modern Utopia, though burdened with top weight, must be respected but may need to find a bit more against some progressive rivals.

Virgin Bet Every Saturday Money Back Handicap Hurdle (Go North Cab On Target Series Qualifier)

  •  4yo+, 9 Runners
  •  Jumps,Turf , 2m 4f 181y , Hurdle course – GOOD TO SOFT, Good in places; Chase course – GOOD, Good to soft in places (GoingStick: Chase 6.1, Hurdle 5.8)
  •  Winner £4,330, 2nd £1,993, 3rd £996, 4th £499, 5th £248

1. Criminal Shore – Best Odds: 14/1 – Betvictor

Has had two educational spins and could be sharper for those experiences. Representing a stable that knows how to bring one forward, he might not be far away if finding a bit of progression.

2. Dubai Gold – Best Odds: 33/1 – bet365

Ran green on debut and never really threatened. Improvement is needed to get involved, though the application of headgear suggests connections are trying to sharpen him up.

**3. Erick – NR

Non-runner – removed from the contest.

4. Honved – Best Odds: 3/1 – Unibet

Only narrowly denied on his racecourse bow and shaped with considerable promise. Trained by Ralph Beckett and expected to come on plenty for that outing. Major contender if building on that strong debut effort.

5. Meblesh – Best Odds: 15/2 – bet365

Makes his first appearance and hails from a respected yard in Richard Hannon. Likely to know his job, and market support could be telling. One to keep an eye on if attracting interest before the off.

6. Mum’s Angel – Best Odds: 9/1 – BetMGM

Well-bred and represents the Clive Cox operation, which has a good record with newcomers. Bred to appreciate this trip and could play a role if sharp enough on debut.

7. Palmarian – Best Odds: 11/8 – bet365

Caught the eye on debut when staying on strongly into fourth and now steps up with Buick booked. Bred to improve with racing and should go very close with normal progress. Hard to ignore.

8. Recency Bias – Best Odds: 20/1 – Unibet

Fair introduction when running a solid race in midfield and will likely improve for that. May be best suited by a bit further in time but not ruled out for minor money.

9. Uniting – Best Odds: 50/1 – BetMGM

Debuts for a yard capable of landing a touch with a newcomer, but pedigree suggests he might need further or more time. Watch for future outings rather than today.

10. Fallons First – Best Odds: 20/1 – bet365

Takes his first steps on a racecourse and comes from the in-form Burke team. Market moves could be significant, but others are preferred on paper for win purposes.

11. Forty Years On – Best Odds: 15/2 – Betvictor

Not beaten far on debut and shaped as if more would be forthcoming. George Scott’s runner looks likely to improve, and with that run under his belt, a bold showing wouldn’t surprise.

12. Karakula – Best Odds: 33/1 – BetMGM

Showed little first time out and will need to have taken a major step forward to get involved. Hard to recommend unless there’s a dramatic turnaround.

13. She’s A Goldigger – Best Odds: 66/1 – bet365

Steps onto the track for the first time and lacks the profile of others here. Trainer doesn’t often strike with first-timers, and best watched on this occasion.

Verdict

Palmarian shaped with a great deal of promise on his debut and looks the one they all have to beat with William Buick retaining the ride. Honved appeals as a serious threat after a close second last time and should improve again, while Forty Years On could take a significant leap forward from his debut run. For each-way value, Mum’s Angel looks interesting from a stable known for ready juveniles.

Virgin Bet Daily Extra Places Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race)

  •  4yo+, 4 Runners
  •  Jumps,Turf , 3m 84y , Hurdle course – GOOD TO SOFT, Good in places; Chase course – GOOD, Good to soft in places (GoingStick: Chase 6.1, Hurdle 5.8)
  •  Winner £5,827, 2nd £2,685, 3rd £1,342, 4th £672

Fairlawn Flyer – 8/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Has struggled to recapture his best form this season, but his previous performances suggest he retains ability. He wasn’t disgraced last time and may appreciate this longer trip. If he finds some improvement, he could be competitive.

Super Citizen – 5/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

A consistent performer who has been placing regularly without quite managing to get his head in front. He stays well, and his solid form makes him a strong contender. If things fall his way, he has every chance of getting a deserved win.

Jessie Lightfoot – 16/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Has been running respectably in similar contests but is yet to deliver a truly eye-catching performance. A fall last time is a concern, but if she completes without mistakes, she could sneak into the places at a big price.

Touchwoodexpress – 7/2 (Best Odds: bet365)

Showed promise when winning earlier in the season and has put in respectable efforts since. Fell last time out when still in contention, so he needs a clear round here. If he jumps well, he could be a big player.

C’Est Quelqu’un – 20/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Has struggled for consistency and has yet to show enough to suggest he can take this. His best form would put him in the mix, but he needs to find a significant step forward to be competitive.

Dusautior – 9/2 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Has placed a few times this season but was pulled up two starts ago and finished down the field last time. Needs to bounce back, but he stays well and has the potential to run a solid race if returning to form.

Unblinking – 14/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Has been below his best in recent outings, but he has run well in similar races in the past. Needs to rediscover some old form, but he has enough ability to spring a surprise if putting in a strong effort.

Getthepot – 11/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

A winner earlier in the season but has struggled to follow up. Needs to show a return to that previous form, but if he does, he could have a say in the outcome.

Jamesieconn – 5/2 (Best Odds: Unibet)

The market leader and for good reason, with a strong win on his record and some respectable efforts since. If he runs to his best, he is a major contender.

Lady Pacifico – 25/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Has struggled to make an impact in her recent runs, and while she is lightly raced over fences, she will need a big improvement to figure here. Others make more appeal.

Verdict

Jamesieconn has shown enough to suggest he can take this contest if running to his potential. Touchwoodexpress looks a real danger if his jumping holds up, while Super Citizen is a solid performer who could be right in the mix. Dusautior could also be worth considering if bouncing back to form.

Doncaster 16:15

Livescore Bet Handicap Chase

  •  5yo+, 7 Runners
  •  Jumps,Turf , 2m 4f 115y , Chase course – GOOD, Good to soft in places; Hurdle course – GOOD TO SOFT (GoingStick: 6.0) (Rail movements: 2.15 & 4.33 +29yds, 2.50, 3.58 & 5.03 +7y
  •  Winner £3,248, 2nd £1,494, 3rd £747, 4th £374, 5th £186

Diamond Koda – 7/2 (Best Odds: bet365)

A consistent performer who has placed in all three outings this season. He has been knocking on the door for a breakthrough win and remains competitive at this level. If he maintains his recent form, he could go close again.

Benmore – 7/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Has been steadily improving, finishing in the frame in his last three runs. If he tidies up his jumping, he could be a real threat in this contest. His trainer has a good record with similar types, making him one to watch.

Lune De La Mer – 10/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Won both of her starts last season but hasn’t looked the same since returning this term. Pulled up on her last outing, which raises some concerns. However, if she rediscovers her best form, she could be a lively outsider.

Scots Poet – 14/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Has shown some ability in the past but has been struggling for consistency. If he can recapture his better form, he may be able to sneak into the places, though he will need to improve to challenge the leading contenders.

Reforme – 7/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Bounced back to form last time with a strong runner-up finish. If he builds on that effort, he could be a serious player here. A well-handicapped horse who may be peaking at the right time.

Gwennie May Star – 5/2 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Produced an impressive win last time out and looks to be on the up. If she continues her progress, she has every chance of following up here. The leading contender based on recent form.

Kally Des Bruyeres – 16/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Sprung a surprise two starts ago when landing a win but was pulled up next time. A risky proposition given that inconsistency, but if she runs to her best, she has an outside chance.

Maxiboy Dagrostis – 15/2 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Ran well when third two outings ago but failed to complete last time. The application of a tongue tie could make a difference, and if it does, he could bounce back with a strong performance. A potential dark horse in the race.

Imperial Jade – 9/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Looked promising earlier in the season with a couple of good efforts but has failed to make an impact in recent starts. Needs to return to his best form to be a serious contender here.

Verdict

Gwennie May Star arrives in excellent form and looks the one to beat. Maxiboy Dagrostis could be dangerous if the tongue tie has the desired effect, while Benmore has been consistent and could challenge if he jumps better. Reforme is another with a chance, especially if he builds on his recent second-place finish.

Doncaster 16:50

Livescore Bet Handicap Chase

  •  5yo+, 7 Runners
  •  Jumps,Turf , 2m 4f 115y , Chase course – GOOD, Good to soft in places; Hurdle course – GOOD TO SOFT (GoingStick: 6.0) (Rail movements: 2.15 & 4.33 +29yds, 2.50, 3.58 & 5.03 +7y
  •  Winner £3,248, 2nd £1,494, 3rd £747, 4th £374, 5th £186

Kap Auteuil – 16/1 (Best Odds: bet365)

Once a reliable performer, but recent efforts have been underwhelming. Pulled up on his last start and hasn’t shown much spark this season. Needs a big revival to be competitive, but his past ability makes him difficult to completely rule out.

Valence d’Aumont – 6/4 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Comes into this race fresh off a victory and looks in good shape to follow up. Has been performing consistently and should enjoy this trip. If he maintains his recent level, he will be a major threat once again.

Coolmoyne – 5/1 (Best Odds: Unibet)

Has produced some solid performances this season but has also thrown in a few below-par efforts. Capable on his day, but he needs to produce his best form to challenge the main contenders here. An each-way chance if running up to his potential.

Bravethewaves – 5/2 (Best Odds: bet365)

A winner two starts ago but followed that up with a disappointing effort. If he bounces back to his earlier form, he could be a leading player in this race. A solid chance if everything clicks into place.

Great Ballinboris – 7/1 (Best Odds: Betvictor)

Has yet to hit top form this season, but his previous placed efforts suggest there is some ability there. Needs to step up considerably, but if he finds improvement, he could be in the mix for the places.

Verdict

Valence d’Aumont is in great form and looks the one to beat. Bravethewaves has shown flashes of ability and could be a strong contender if returning to his best. Coolmoyne has the potential to get involved if he finds consistency, while Great Ballinboris could sneak into the frame at a bigger price.
