Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a major factor here; the Gabonese striker has netted five goals in his previous two encounters with the Amsterdam giants, including a memorable hat-trick in their 2023 Europa League thriller. Ajax, meanwhile, continue to rebuild. Yet their away record in the Champions League offers some optimism: one defeat in 19 away matches at this stage is a staggering statistic. The Dutch side’s defensive issues are undeniable. They have not kept a Champions League away clean sheet since 2019, and their Eredivisie campaign has been defined by giving opponents early leads before clawing back draws.
