“Of course. When you play these tournaments, you want to get to the rounds where you’re going to play the better players, where you’re going to play the top players. All I can say is that if I play my last two sets, you’re going to have a tough time.
“It’s hard, especially against a World No.2, who has been the World No.1 for two years in a row. It’s different. I’m going to go in there blind, pretty much, because I’ve never played him on a big stage like this. I played him at the World Series finals, but that’s so different. I’m just going to try to play my own game and that’s what I’ve been doing this whole tournament. I’ve always been just enough and I’m going to try to do the same.”
Doets is striving to keep performing as he opened up on the reasons for his hard work on Tour and the motivation to provide for his boy. He said: “The time away from home, away from your family, away from your kids, whatever you have. It’s just really, really tough. I haven’t played everything because I haven’t qualified for everything, but I can just imagine that when I do, it’s going to be even worse because I think the last year I’ve been home for maybe 60 to 65 percent of the whole year. And it’s tough. I miss my son, I miss my kid.
“I’m here also, this is my job. I make money. This is my future. I want to have a good future for me and my son. and this helps. The money is something that you bring home and you can save up and eventually buy a house or whatever you want. This is a good future for my son if I keep going like this and that’s what keeps me going. It’s been tough. The tour, it’s a tough lifestyle. It’s really, really hard. But everything’s going to go better from this moment on for me. I know that last year was a bit of a disappointment, but also I reached like seven or eight quarter-finals on the tour. I know I’m going to do better than last year.”
