Guide: Both Teams To Score & Win
Also known as “Goal Rush” or “Match Result & BTTS,” this market combines two popular bets into one. This guide explains how it works, what to look for, and the risks involved.
You are betting on a specific team to win the match AND for both teams to score at least one goal. For example, winning scores like 2-1, 3-1, or 4-2.
How It Works
To win this bet, two things must happen in the same match:
- The team you select must win (Home or Away).
- Both teams must score a goal.
If the team wins 1-0 or 2-0, the bet loses because both teams did not score. If the game ends 1-1, the bet loses because your team did not win. Roughly 1 in every 5 matches ends with the home team winning and both teams scoring.
Common Strategies
While no outcome is guaranteed, experienced bettors often look for specific scenarios when researching this market:
Pros and Cons
Combining two outcomes usually offers longer odds than backing a team just to win.
Even if your team is winning comfortably, the bet remains active until the final whistle if you are just waiting for the opponent to grab a consolation goal.
You need two specific events to happen. A dominant 3-0 win for your team is great for the league table, but a loss for this specific bet.
Combining these bets into an accumulator increases odds rapidly (e.g., 40/1 for three games), but the risk of one leg failing is significantly higher.
Hypothetical Example
Note: This is a fictional example to demonstrate how the bet settles.
Selection: Arsenal to Win & Both Teams To Score
Hypothetical Odds: ~3/1 (Single Bet)
Scenario A (Result 2-1): Arsenal wins, Spurs scored. BET WINS.
Scenario B (Result 3-0): Arsenal wins, Spurs did not score. BET LOSES.
Scenario C (Result 1-1): Both scored, but Arsenal didn’t win. BET LOSES.
A Note on Accumulators
A “Goal Rush” accumulator involves combining several of these selections into one bet. While the potential returns can be high—sometimes 130/1 for four matches—the likelihood of winning decreases with every match added. It is generally recommended to keep accumulators small (4-5 selections maximum) to manage risk.
