We have reached the final of the World Championship with the trophy that will be handed out tonight. To reach his second World Championship final of his career, Michael Smith produced some of the best darts ever, and it will be tough to stop him this evening. After posting his highest ever average on the Ally Pally stage on the first day, he has continued with great consistency showing that he has the mental strength to go all the way. In the semi-final he hammered James Wade, and many now believe that after four appearances in the final of a major tournament, this could finally be Bully Boy’s time to do himself justice.

But it will not be easy against Peter Wright. Snakebite has already won the Matchplay and Players Championship Finals this season and will be looking to add the biggest one of all today. He hasn’t quite reached the level he was in Blackpool back in July, but the match against Anderson was very close indeed. The Scotsman has won five of the last six meetings against Bully Boy, but this will be a very different Michael Smith. In this event, Smith’s checkout has been a 132, and he has scored heavily. We believe this will be a final that will go down to the wire, and we are backing the Over in the total legs market.

Not surprisingly, Gerwyn Price is the favourite to defend his title, with three-time winner Michael van Gerwen following just behind. However, a player that needs to be considered is Clayton, one of the top three in the world with the current form. He has played with great confidence lately and has transformed his game massively. He believes now in what he is doing and must be seen as a threat to any top players.

Another player to keep in strong consideration is Krzysztof Ratajski. The Pole is the dark horse of this year’s World Championship, as he has consistently improved his performances on the big stage, so likely to go deep this time around as well.

A special mention is due to The Queen Fallon Sherrock. She has developed massively as a player since the last appearance at Alexandra Palace two years ago. So don’t write her off too soon.

Peter Wright is the favourite to progress from the third quarter of the draw, but we believe Ryan Searle looks a more attractive option here. Searle has done exceptionally well at the Players Championship Finals, showing the quality he can reach. He run to the last 16 of the 2019 World Championship, and with his ability and humility, can go far here. Similarly to Jonny Clayton, he is a genuinely talented player that most fans will be keen to see what he can do deep in top tournaments.

But, could it be the time for Bully Boy? He is, without any doubts, one of the most naturally talented player in this sport, and, incredibly, he hasn’t yet landed a major title. However, if he can perform consistently at the same level he hammered Michael van Gerwen in the last eight of the Grand Slam, then he is undoubtedly a contender to become the World Champion on 3 January. It is worth a shot at this huge price!
