Wigan Athletic v Leeds UnitedTips & Predictions
17th August 2019 – 15:00

Match Preview & Team News
Wigan spent the entire last season in the bottom half of the standings and they look destined for a similar run this time around. They did get off to a surprisingly victorious start beating Cardiff City 3-2 in the first round at The DW Stadium. However, the Latics did nothing to gurt Preston North End in a tough second-round defeat last weekend when they shipped three goals without any response at Deepdale.
Paul Cook’s men went on to lose 0-1 at home to Stoke City on Tuesday night in the League Cup. They are looking ahead of one of the toughest fixtures of the entire campaign here in the third-round clash with Leeds United. Cook can only rely on his team’s fine record at The DW Stadium where they won 11 and only lost 4 of 23 matches last season. The Latics did show two completely opposite faces at home and on the road at the start of the new campaign. This is why we will be careful with the stakes backing the Peacocks here.
The visitors have to be considered clear favorites regardless of the aforementioned home record Wigan had last season. Marcelo Bielsa’s men are one of the main contenders for the automatic promotion come May. They’ve proved quality with a 1-3 victory over Bristol City in the first round, while Nottingham Forest were lucky to have avoided a defeat last weekend at Elland Road (a 1-1 draw).
Interestingly, both of last term’s head to head encounters ended with away wins (1-2 each).
Full Time Winner Odds & Prediction
The quality is on Leeds’ side and we have to back the visitors to claim the spoils at 5/6 odds.
Goals Market Prediction
The alternative bet will be Leeds United to keep a clean sheet at the odds of 6/4 since the hosts have failed to score in any of last two matches.
