Wednesday’s Horse Racing Betting: Tips from Haydock and Kempton

GOLD TOWN (William Buick) wins The Drewatts Newcomers EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes Newbury 21 Apr 2017 - Pic Steven Cargill / Racingfotos.com

With only six days before Royal Ascot, our racing tipster James Stevens gives us his four tips across the card.

2:00 Haydock –  Ottonian (9/4)

This Godolphin colt won extremely well on debut and can follow up in what doesn’t look the strongest handicap in the world. A Dubawi colt, out of a good dam who was a Group Three winner. The form of the siblings also is very strong, suggesting he has ticks all the right breeding boxes. He won well on his only start at Thirsk, travelling well before closing the race out in good style. This three-year-old is one to be on the right side of, especially in this contest.

3:00 Haydock – Hugin (15/2)

Representing David Simcock is Hugin who makes only his third start. Formerlly in Ireland he finished third on debut, behind an eventual listed winner in Peace Envoy and King Electric who has run well in group races since. On his British debut he was a very easy winner at Newcastle, and can improve from that victory now stepped up in class.

3:30 Haydock – Mutarabby (2/1)

A second tip for the famous blue colours of Godolphin, this time the verdict goes to Saeed Bin Surror’s Mutarabby. I personally have been tracking him for a short while, and has gone very close on all three starts. He was beaten a neck at Newcastle on debut, before beaten by a promising type in Oasis Charm. He was last seen a length off another Godolphin star Hold Sway. Today can be his day, after being unlucky on his previous three efforts.

8:10 Kempton – Parlance (7/1)

Representing legendary trainer Sir Michael Stoute is Parlance. He has improved from each run, and was last seen winning very easily in maiden company at Chelmsford last time out. The form of that race has worked out pretty well with Indian Blessing, who finished second, running extremely well in a listed contest. The highly regarded Mori beat him by two lengths at Goodwood, whilst Parlance beat him by just under four lengths. On the basis of that he should have a big chance.
