After 6/4 (5pt) and 11/8 (4pt) winners yesterday, Steve Ryder previews four races on Wednesday 4th October. Sept P&L +12.11pts, Oct P&L +6.38pts.
4:00 Nottingham- Indian Chief 9/1 (0.5pt ew)
Indian Chief was in fantastic form (12213) over the previous couple of months until an unlucky run last time when finishing 6th. He was last off the bridle over 2f out and never got a clear run until the final 100 yards of the race when he had no chance. Despite progressing from a mark of 66 up to 84, he should still have a chance on his favoured Good To Soft ground off the same mark as his previous ‘unlucky’ run.
4:15 Naas- London Icon 13/8 (4pt) *price when posted on twitter
London Icon was well backed from 50/1 into 14/1 on debut and looked as if he was going to win until being headed a furlong out. The form of the race is strong with the winner Gobi Desert finishing second in a listed race, the second Threeandfourpence, seventh Hazapour, ninth Coeur D’Amour and tenth Zabriskie all winning on their next starts and the fourth Hunting Horn and sixth Spanish Point finishing runner up on their next start. That form is miles ahead of anything else in the race and I would be shocked if he was beaten.
4:45 Naas- Conquest 7/1 (0.5pt ew)
Conquest has failed to live up to the expectations placed upon her as a sister to the top class Minding. She ran with promise on debut before missing the break on her second start and failing to land a blow. She was then well fancied at the Curragh but ran no sort of race at all and eventually finished a poor 10th. She has been given a break since and runs in a Nursery Handicap for the first time off a lowly mark of 73. As a valuable broodmare I think that it is significant that they are continuing with her racing and therefore is worth chancing in a poor race.
8:10 Kempton- Ply 5/6 (3pt)
Ply stepped up massively on previous form when bolting up by an eased down 4 ½ lengths over C&D last time. He has been raised 11lb for that success but gets to in this race under a 6lb penalty. Roger Charlton is well known for bringing his horses along slowly and Ply looks to be another to add to the list.
