Steve Ryder previews two races at Epsom on Wednesday 24th April. P&L +23.78pts.
2:10 Epsom- Duke Of Firenze 9/1 (0.5pt ew)
Duke Of Firenze has a good C&D record with a victory off 97 and places off 90, 95 and 107. As a result of not winning last season, he has dropped down to a mark of 84 for his reappearance but it is interesting that his best run last season came over this C&D when he was 6th off 107.
Duke Of Firenze is so well handicapped on old form and with the David Griffiths yard making a good start to the season with 2-7 (29% SR) in the last 14 days, he can go well.
3:55 Epsom- Desert Wind 8/1 (1pt ew)
Desert Wind was a really progressive three year old last season who completed an AW hat-trick before finishing 4th in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot. That earned him a rating of 93 off which he ran well to finish 4th at Newmarket on his final start of last season and also 3rd at Kempton in a handicap last time on reappearance.
Based on his runs on turf last season, Desert Wind still looks to have room to progress off a mark of 93 and he should run well. Bookmakers are currently offering 8/1 with four places and 9/1 with three places and I would recommend taking the extra place in this competitive race.
