Following a blank day yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Wednesday 14th August. P&L +69.02pts.
3:50 Salisbury- Lavender’s Blue 10/3 (1pt)
Lavender’s Blue was a filly who I thought would be competitive in the Oaks so I have to fancy her dropped back into a listed race today. She was an impressive debut winner at Newmarket over a mile before a close second place in a listed race at Newbury over 1m2f where she had subsequent Irish Oaks winner Star Catcher one place behind her.
Lavender’s Blue tried to make all in the Oaks but she just failed to get the trip and obviously had a hard race hence the 75 day break. Back down in class and trip she should run well and could upset the short priced favourite.
6:50 Gowran Park- Who’s Steph 15/8 (4pt)
Who’s Steph has only finished out of the first two twice in her career; once on debut and once in the Irish 1000 Guineas behind Alpha Centauri. She has to concede a penalty in this listed race for her Group 3 victory last time in the Munster Oaks but looks to be well suited by the track, trip and ground she will encounter.
It will be disappointing if Who’s Steph can’t win this listed race and I expect her to be well backed before the off.
