After a couple of disappointments yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Wednesday 10th December. Prices when tipped on twitter @SteveRyder13. Jan P&L -4.90pts.
2:15 Lingfield- Grey Waters 7/4 (4pt)
Grey Waters won two races over hurdles in Ireland before running back on the AW at Dundalk over 1m4f. He then benefitted by the step up to 2 miles when winning a handicap at Kempton by a length. Author’s Dream was a further half a length back in third and is the his main market rival in this race again today. Grey Waters was receiving 3lb from Author’s Dream that day and today receives 7lb from that rival as a result of Author’s Dream being raised 10lb for an 11 length victory at Wolverhampton last time. Following his victory at Kempton, Grey Waters then disappointed on heavy ground at Aintree before a fantastic run in a Grade 2 hurdle in Ireland when finishing 4th. That run, combined with being better off at the weights with Author’s Dream, means he should prove very difficult to beat.
7:15 Kempton- Eltezam 13/2 (0.5pt ew)
Eltezam was a top class two year old and finished placed in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. He was then off for nearly two years and disappointed on his return after being gelded. He was bought for 32,000gns in July 2017 and was transferred to Amanda Perrett and dropped down to a mark of 78 having previously been rated 100. He finished second at Kempton over a mile by a short head off this mark and was raised 2lb for that effort but again finished runner up at Chelmsford off mark when upped to 1m2f. He looked outpaced when dropped back to a mile on his penultimate run but then finished a neck second when back up to 1m2f last time. He runs off a mark of 82 in this race but Danielle Smith takes off 7lb in this race and he should be bang there at the finish in this amateur rider’s race.
