Wales v France Tips & Predictions
20th October 2019 – 08:15
Match Preview & Team News
Wales topped the Pool D with a perfect record of four wins in four games, but they have by no means been super-impressive en route to the quarter-final. Warren Gatland’s men are now looking ahead of the most important game of the competition as they take on Pool C runners-up France in the battle for the World Cup semi-final.
Gatland has the win over Australia to work with coming into this tie. It was the only game in which we saw the Welsh team at least close to their best. There is a question regarding their motivation in the other three ties in the pool, but it will be answered right after the quarter-final against Les Bleus.
France are probably one of the biggest disappointments of the event, alongside Scotland. They did manage to steal the crunch win over Argentina in the second round, but they had certain problems against both USA and especially Tonga later on.
Les Bleus did not have the chance to battle England for the top of the pool as typhoon cancelled their match. They will have to pass the ball to destructive centre Gael Fickou as much as possible if they are to pull off an upset against Wales. Fickou will also need to step up as his team are about to face by far the toughest opposition yet in this tournament.
Wales can also build on the head to head record as they won seven of the last eight clashes against Les Bleus.
Full Time Winner Odds & Prediction
Wales are heavy favourites for the win in our eyes and we’ll back them to advance to the semi-final as a banker pick at the 2/5 odds.
Specials Market Prediction
The value is huge in the 2/1 odds offered for Wales not to trail in the match as we expect them to be the dominant side on the pitch from the get-go.
