Steve Ryder has two confident selections in maiden races on Tuesday 8th July, one at Chelmsford and one across the Irish Sea at Roscommon. P&L +10.89pts
5:40 Roscommon- Feisty Katerina 13/2 (2pt ew)
Brendan Duke was interviewed on At The Races this week and identified Feisty Katerina as “really smart”. She defied odds of 33/1 to run a superb race at Fairyhouse last month to finish 3rd. She was one of the first off the bridle but kept finding for tender handling over 6f so this step up to 7f looks sure to suit. Brendan Duke’s horses are horses are also well known to improve from their debut efforts so a lot more is expected from this filly on this occasion. Ball Girl was well backed on debut when finishing second and Himmah has ran consistently on her last two starts without winning, but a chance is taken on Feisty Katerina to improve past them both. Bet 365 opened at 13/2 at the time I posted on twitter (SteveRyder13) but is now as short as 7/2 in places.
7:50 Chelmsford- Military Parade 9/4 (2pt)
Military Parade was a 280,000 gns yearling who now makes his debut as a 3 year old gelding, a type his trainer Saeed Bin Suroor has a fantastic record with. Since 2014, form figures for 3 year old gelding newcomers from the stable reads 10111112111 unsurprisingly returning a huge profit. Further enhancing his chance is that he comes out of Stall 1, a huge positive at the venue especially for newcomers. The odds on favourite, Karawaan, has strong form but he was beaten at odds of 10/11 last time at Lingfield. It’s worth taking a chance on Saeed Bin Suroor improving his amazing record with a 3 year old gelding newcomer, Military Parade.
