Following an 11/10 (15p R4) winner yesterday, Steve Ryder previews four races on Tuesday 8th January. P&L -9.09pts.
1:10 Bangor- Is Love Alive 8/1 (0.5pt ew)
Is Love Alive finished third at this course on his first completed start for Adrian Wintle back in 2016 off a mark of 110 but dropped all the way down to a mark of 74 for his last start. He won in first time blinkers at Huntingdon where he made all over nearly 3 miles but he was tired at the finish so the drop back to 2m4f looks sure to suit.
If the blinkers work again on Is Love Alive then he should run well off only 4lb higher with 3lb claimer Sean Houlihan retaining the ride with four places on offer.
2:35 Ayr- Imada 2/1 (1pt)
Imada has a good record at Ayr with form figures of 112 including when second off a mark of 114 two starts ago. He travelled well on his reappearance but just failed to stay on his first start over 2m4f so the drop back to 2 miles looks a good move.
This is the first start over fences for Imada despite being a 9 year old but he could still prove well handicapped off 115 in this weak race.
3:45 Ayr- Ribble Valley 11/8 (4pt)
Ribble Valley was an easy winner of a C&D bumper on debut when well supported into 2/1 favourite. He won by 7 lengths that day which justified connections sending him to Cheltenham for a listed race on his next start. He ran ok that day to finish 6th but that doesn’t tell the full story as he was keen early on and clipped heels during the race.
If Ribble Valley can run to the form of either of those races he should prove hard to beat despite a penalty and I will be disappointed if he was beaten.
4:10 Newcastle- King Oswald 12/1 (0.5pt ew)
King Oswald won over this C&D at this time last year off a mark of 62 and should have a good chance of going close in this race off a mark of 59. He was well backed on his last start off a mark of 60 when sent off 7/2 favourite at Wolverhampton but he was slowly away and didn’t get a clear run at the finish.
Punters clearly thought he was well handicapped last time off a mark of 60 and given he has been dropped 1lb and returned to a C&D he has won over before off a higher mark, King Oswald should run well with four place on offer.
