After a near miss yesterday, Steve Ryder previews three races on Tuesday 3rd October. Oct P&L -5.63pts.
4:00 Ayr- Brandon Castle evens (5pt)
I tipped Brandon Castle on Saturday and he duly bolted up by 15 lengths at Chester. That took his record for trainer Archie Watson to 4 wins from 5 runs and he proves very difficult to pass when allowed to lead. Andrew Mullen knows the horse well and retains the ride and can hopefully defy a 6lb penalty for his win on Saturday.
4:50 Southwell- Banditry 11/8 (4pt)
Banditry returned back to hurdling a couple of weeks ago and was well backed into 5/6 favourite but could only finish second by 2 lengths. He travelled well during the whole race but was beaten by a Jonjo O’Neill horse on hurdles debut. He looks to have bumped into a smart one and it should pay to give him another chance in this race.
6:55 Dundalk- Betty Loch 7/1 (0.5pt ew)
Betty Loch was a C&D maiden winner on his penultimate start before getting stuck in the mud at Gowran on heavy ground last time. Pat Smullen has been booked for the ride and should be able to get a good position from Stall 1. A mark of 74 looks within her grasp and she could prove feasibly treated.
