Steve Ryder previews two races on Tuesday 17th April. P&L +6.85pts.
5:15 Fairyhouse- Poli Roi 9/1 (0.5pt ew)
Poli Roi was bought for £300k after winning a PTP by 10 lengths on debut. He then won a bumper easily on his first start for Gordon Elliott before finishing 3rd in a Grade 1 at Punchestown. He was turned over on hurdles debut but then won easily on his next start when upped in trip to 2m6f. Poli Roi came from last to first in a Grade 2 next time but then weakened late on as if something was amiss when eased to then finish last. Poli Roi was then sent off 11/4 last time where he disappointed again but he came back clinically abnormal.
Poli Roi steps up to 3 miles for his handicap debut and he should go well at an each way price in a race where five places are available.
5:20 Newmarket- White Lake 10/1 (0.5pt ew)
I am convinced that White Lake will win a big handicap this season and a chance is taken that today is the day. He has always been sent off short prices but has often disappointed until running his best race for a while last time out. He finished 6th in the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot on Champions Day when ridden prominently. He has been dropped 2lb for that run and is now rated the lowest he has been at 99 and he can go well on his reappearance given that he performed well off a break last time. There are five places on offer and White Lake should be able to place atleast in this race.
