Following 3/1 and 9/2 winners yesterday, Steve Ryder previews the Triumph Hurdle on the final day of the Cheltenham festival. P&L +12.43pts.

Pic D’Orhy is a horse who has been talked up a lot by the Paul Nicholls stable despite never running for them in public. He is a very experienced juvenile hurdler who won three out of four of his hurdles races in France before unseating his rider on his chasing debut in September. Following that blemish, he ran twice again over hurdles behind Beaumec De Houelle who has since been retired to stud.
Pic D’Orhy has since joined the Paul Nicholls stable and makes his stable debut at the Cheltenham Festival, just as Diego Du Charmil and Aux Ptit Soins when winning in recent years. He has to face the ‘Irish banker’ of the week in Sir Erec who was a high class flat horse before joining Joseph O’Brien but that rival is still inexperienced over hurdles and was gifted an easy lead last time. It looks an open race without Sir Erec and I think it is worth backing the unknown quantity Pic D’Orhy in the race.
